Pit bulls for sale

When looking for pit bulls for sale the first thing that you should be asking yourself is "am I the right owner for a pitbull"?

Pit bulls are very strong dogs and can be challenging at times if you don´t know how to handle them. With this in mind let´s look at some of the most important things you must have if you want to get a pit.

1. Space: do you live in a house with some fenced yard where your pit has some space to move around? If not you should be looking for another breed.

2. Willingness to dedicate time for training: as said before pit bulls can be great dogs but you must dedicate quite some time to them.

3. Money: consider some cash for things like food, vaccines, toys,.....

Another question a lot of people have when looking for pit bulls for sale is if they should get a male or a female. As a general rule males are stronger, more dominant and more territory possessive. Females are sweeter and more owner possessive.

For the first time owner it´s usually better to get a female because she is less challenging.

As far as breeders are concerned stay away from backyard breeders and go for hobby breeders that belong to one or several clubs and are involved in show competition which is a sign of responsability.

Good luck with your search.

Great hub... In a way some of the thins you metioned before bringing home an APBT, is something that should be considered with any dog (money, willingness, and space). APBT can actually be great apartment dogs, if they are still walked and exercised regularly. The do need an owner that will be able to assert themselves as a dominant person, not by abuse, but behavior and tone.

I think that the breed is definately not a first time dog owner breed. And, that no matter what gender, APBT are great dogs, but I will admit some males can be a tad more dominant than females. But it's all in individual dogs not a general rule.

all depends on the owner nothing wrong with the pit breed what so ever u can't blame something that knows no better if u didn't teach it not to do something, or what to do, not the innocent animals that catch all the blame, just owners who, didn't research, dedicate the time, or show the love to the dog that it honestly truely needed, i have 2 a female almost 2 and a male a year and a half, they just had pups, n its also my responsibility as a "HOBBY" OR "BACKYARD BREEDER" to weed threw the people who i think aren't right whatso ever to own the dog, BECAUSE MAYBE SOMEONE SHOULD OWN THE PERSON INSTEAD OF THAT PARTICULAR PERSON OWNING A PITBULL, LET ALONE ANY OTHER DOG

its also so amazing that mine act like poodles, n even the mail man which doesn't like any dog will walk by n pet both of them

Due to several pit bull deaths and a rapidly growing population of Pit Bulls in animal shelters, San Francisco required that all male Pit Bulls be sterilized. The number of pit bulls in animal shelters has diminished greatly as a result. An owner of a male pit bull migh be well advised to have the animal neutered.

I just wanted to say something about females being sweeter. That's not true. I've owned alot of pitbulls 12 to be exact and all the girls have been way more aggressive than the boys. The boys have been more laid back and alot sweeter
