Maunawili Falls

Hawaii Residents Would GREATLY appreciate you Respecting the Aina which means Land and not throwing your trash in the river or on the trail and if you bring animals your expected to pick up their dropping since it is a public trail. Mahalo

Maunawili Falls(Maunawili Rd Kailua, HI 96734) is located Near castle hospital When you come off the Pali and head towards Castle Hospital/Kailua on (Kalanianaole Hwy) its the Right before Castle Hospital (Auloa rd.) As your turning into that lane you'll notice a Stone Sign saying "Olomana" if you see that sign you know your on the right road! Your going to have the option to go on two roads left or right You are going to travel on the left road(Maunawili Rd), from there you'll go straight the road curves a lot so drive slow and be patient because you will reach a single lane road for both ways of traffic. Immediately after, the Gate to the trail will be on the left and to the right there will be a street with houses. Its not a private street so your welcome to park in front of their houses obviously not in front of their driveways.

When your walking along the trail you want to be VERY careful and to take your time if needed its about 4 miles to the falls and another 4 miles back. Well worth it, because its so beautiful once you get there.

About 3/4th's of the way there is a beautiful Look out which are what the pictures are of. There's a small place to sit and rest once you get there

Helpful Tips

-Do NOT Bring more than a SMALL bag or Fanny Pack All you'll need is: Your Cell phone for emergency's, A camera ,Towel(not necessary), and shoes which you'll be wearing.

-If your going to bring a beverage ONLY bring a bottle of Water. Soda will dehydrate you.

-Go to sleep Really early the night before because the trail is mostly up and its not easy.

-Drink LOTS of water before the trail and go to the Restroom Since there are none.

-DONT bring any money with you there are no stores and No reason for you to bring it.

-Never go alone, it doesn't matter What time it is! Its not recommended to go alone there's nothing to be scared of there are plenty of people walking on the trail but you never know.

Overall Everyone on the Trail is Very Friendly and there are always dogs on the trail.

This is NOT a trail for children under 10 years old its dangerous when wet and too long so unless you plan to carry them I recommend you find a shorter trail.
