Planet Playground

I hate when I go out, whether it be the city or the country and see litter EVERYWHERE!! So I created Planet Playground to inspire families to contribute to the health of our environment.

I am a youthful and enthusiastic fashion designer. My mission is to provide unique fashions to our youth without sacrificing the world in which we live. I love to recycle (upcycle) vintage fabrics, and use organic cottons.

DID YOU KNOW??!!

Upcycling is a form of sustainability; waste materials are used to make new products. It eliminates waste that ends up in our environment.Organic cotton is grown without the use of chemicals or pesticides. (Traditionally grown cotton accounts for approx 25% of the worlds pesticides.)

By using vintage fabrics, otherwise known as 'upcycling' waste has been eliminated that ends up in our landfills. I use these fabrics and make them into something fabulous and new. I clean and pre-treat EVERYTHING. Every little bit helps in our ventures to go green!

I love making children's clothing. I find that they look cute in almost anything which gives me, the designer, more freedom to express my creativity. I love to make pillowcase dresses from vintage pillowcases, some even date back to the early 1920s. I also make bonnets and bloomers, and fancy pants! I also use vintage tablecloths, sheeting, laces, table runners, and vintage handkerchiefs. It sounds weird but you would be surprised at how cute they turn out!!
Planet Playground's garments are professionally made, with strong over locked seams. I use a lot of ribbon, which I treat at the edges to prevent frustrating fraying.

Children always need new clothes. They grow and grow and grow.
The current recession we are in makes us very careful as to what we are spending our money on.
For those of you looking for clothing for your growing children that can be worn again and again, try out pillowcase dresses. The can be worn as a dress when she is small, and as she grows taller, they can be worn as a top. They can be worn on their own, over top of dresses, t-shirts, sweaters, jeans, pants, bloomers, anything. This is they type of clothing that can be passed on and on and on.
