Planning Your Honeymoon

It doesn´t matter if your honeymoon is going to last two days or a month, your honeymoon trip is a once in a lifetime experience. Even though you may have traveled together before, it´ll be your first trip as husband and wife.

Start planning your honeymoon as soon as you have decided the date, day, and hour of the wedding, after that you can start arranging your itinerary and the places you're going to visit. There are as many kinds of honeymoons as there are couples, but take into account that prices can vary hugely depending on the season and the demand of the places you want to visit. For example, most beach hotels are more expensive in the winter and summer months, but in the fall their rates can be 50% cheaper. Airfare and car rental will also be less expensive.

Traveling in off-season months, also means most resaurants, stores, hotels and places of interest won´t be as full and you´ll be able to enjoy them more.

Also take into account that by traveling off-season you may be able to afford to stay longer, go to a nice restaurant, or go shopping. The secret is to be prepared and to plan with time.

Key Questions to Planning Your Honeymoon:

  • What is your budget?
  • Do you like to discover new places ans cultures, or do radical changes make you nervous?
  • Do any of you suffer a medical condition that might affect your travel like dizziness, anxiety when flying, or an inability to adapt to a different environment.
  • Which is your ideal place? Do you prefer warm or cold climates?
  • What sounds more romantic? A cabin in a snow covered mountain, the skyscrapers of a large city, or the sunset on a beach?
  • What do you prefer; a big luxiourious hotel, or an unusual place with a rustic touch?
  • What do you want to do on those days? Play tennis, sail, snorkel, skate, cycle, visit museums, shop, or do you simply want to relax?
