Plasma LCD HD WatchaHooE
47Deciding what's what?
Good Day,
Here we sit with another product review for your consumption. As I like to keep things relatively without advanced terminology and geek speak, unfortunately with this one its going to be hard. However, I promise I will do my best to dispel much of the babble and difficult to understand concepts.
Let us begin by giving you some information about each of the types of new high definition (HD) televisions that are available to date.
- Plasma - Better picture and greater quality image.
- LCD - Cheaper on the whole however, lower quality image.
- DirectView - The old class in digital (expensive at larger sizes)
- Projection - Projected Image poor quality, relatively mid priced.
Plasma - Lifespans are generally between 20-25 Years and have a viewing angle that can be seen from all angles.
LCD - Liquid Crystal Displays have a very short viewing angle and will have problems being seen from anything greater than a 45 Degree angle. This is a major consideration for rooms with L-Type configuration or similar.
DirectView - 200lbs or better these Televisions were the staple of the last 30 years of televisions however, these newest versions are called digital televisions and are nowhere near the quality of LCD/Plasma. However, they are relatively cheap in smaller sizes and should only be considered if you are on a very tight budget.
Projection - Very expensive but, very large images. In general be carefule when/if you are to purchase any of the flavors of projection (DLP, Rear Project HDTV and Front Projection HDTV). All flavors are neither as clear or vibrant as LCD or Plasma however, are unbeatable at their relative screen area.
In short, here are a few things to consider:
- Most LCD Models can natively connect to a PC (good for media centers - some plasma's have this connection).
- Most Plasma Models are better than LCD for image clarity.
- Most Projection TV's can display images greater than LCD or Plasma.
