A Playboy Bunny who wears a costume called a bunny suit consisting of a corset, bunny ears, a collar, cuffs, and a fluffy cottontail which was inspired by the tuxedo wearing Playboy rabbit mascot is a waitress who works at a Playboy Club.
The Club was originally one of a chain of nightclubs owned and operated by Playboy Enterprises until 1991 with the first club opening in downtown Chicago in 1960. The clubs were just bars with entertainment featuring Playboy Bunnies serving drinks to members and performances by some of the biggest names in entertainment. There is now only one Playboy Club in Chicago which is owned by Hugh Hefner opened in 1960. Playboy recently opened a new Playboy Club in Las Vegas, Nevada. The new club at The Palms with its very noticeable neon bunny head has casinos, bars, and a bathroom with pictures all over the walls of Playmates. The first service uniform registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office was The Playboy Bunny outfit.
Bunny girl facts.
The tight costume forced servers to bend at the knees, not the waist, when serving drinks; this maneuver became known as the "Bunny Dip".
The uniforms were custom made for each Bunny. There was usually a seamstress for each Club to maintain the fit.
Before every shift the Manager would weigh in each Bunny. Bunnies could not gain or lose more than one pound.
Playboy has some costumes in storage. Occasionally costumes are offered for sale on the internet.
Genuine Bunny costumes in good condition have sold for over $10,000.The only two on public display are in the collections of The Smithsonian and the Chicago History Museum.
In Japan The Bunny suit has become associated with sexiness in general and Bunnies should not be confused with Playboy Playmates, women who appear in the centerfold of Playboy magazine.
In 2006, The Palms Hotel Casino in Las Vegas opened the first new Playboy club in over a 25 years which is located on the 52nd floor of the Fantasy Tower. fashion designer Roberto Cavalli was chosen to redesign the original Bunny Suit.
Famous Bunny girls.
Plenty of women worked as Playboy Bunnies early in their careers including before becoming famous were... Barbara Bosson: Jackie Zeman: Dale Bozzio: Julie Cobb: Carol Cleveland: Sara Dylan: Sherilyn Fenn: Deborah Harry: Lauren Hutton: Lynne Moody: Patricia Quinn: Dolly Read: Maria Richwine: Kathryn Leigh Scott:: "Carol Sharkey Jon Bon Jovi's mother" : "Gloria Steinem as a journalistic assignment" Susan Sullivan: Kimba Wood, a federal Judge, who was previously nominated for the post of U.S. Attorney General. (Note that Kimba Wood was actually only a Playboy Bunny trainee, before deciding to enroll in Harvard Law School to become a lawyer.

I am just in the process of doing todays bunch.. I always end up deviating away from my work because the Biograhys of those stars are so interesting and educational at times that i forget i have work to do!!
I Love Bunny's
I imagine it takes a long time to do a hub like this -- because you just can't take your eyes off the Bunnies. No? But it's very educational. I didn't know the Bunnies had to watch their weight that closely.
Once the facts are out the way then i can enjoy doing the fun part!!
;)
Thanks for the slice of history.
With the show "The Girls Next Door" I think Playboy just got mainstream all over again. It seemed it died out for short time, but now it's better than ever.
