Playmates on Twitter? - oh yes!  Playmates in the Playboy mansion apparently do have time to tweet... and here's my list of as many Playmates as we can find on twitter!

Hugh Hefner founded Playboy in Chicago back in 1953. The very first issue had Marilyn Monroe as the centrefold. Since then the cheeky bunny logo has become an internationally recognised symbol and the magazine has featured no end of lovelies within its hallowed pages.

The second issue of Playboy saw the introduction of Playmate of the Month. Since then, each and every month a new Playmate can be found gracing the Playboy centrefold, with one lucky Playmate being personally chosen by Hugh Hefner as Playmate of the Year. The current holder of that accolade is Jayde Nicole, the first Canadian to hold the title in 26 years.

The Playmate Data Sheet appeared in the magazine for the first time in 1977, and tells you everything you need to know about your favourite Playmate such as ambitions, turn-ons and turn-offs.

Playmates can also be found online, the Playboy.com website has been in existence since 1994 and features videos of the Playmates, alongside Playboy Cyber Girls who have not been featured in the magazine.

Lucky Hugh Hefner has dated numerous Playmates, even marrying Playmate of The Year Kimberley Conrad. These days the 82 year old shares the Playboy Mansion with Playmate twins Karissa and Krista Shannon, and new arrival 22 year old Crystal Harris.

Some of the best known Playmates include Victoria Silvstedt, Jenny McCarthy, Pamela Anderson - who has appeared on the cover more times than any other Playmate, and the late Anna Nicole Smith.

There have been 622 Playmates overall, and it is said that once a Playmate always a Playmate!
