Have a good night sleep

Many people have trouble sleeping when they need to and wake up feeling worn out and exhausted. I myself have trouble sleeping almost every night and I have found a few things that work for me. The main reason I ave troubles sleeping is because I can't seem to clear my head enough to just relax. I find once I'm laying down in bed I can't stop thinking about anything and everything that is on my mind. Many of the techniues I use are methods to take my mind off of things and make me feel more relaxed.

The first thing I find that helps me feel more tired and have a better night sleep is if I get out a good book and read. Even if you are lying in bed reading for over an hour, in the end you will still get more sleep than you would tossing and turning all night long. If I am in to a good book I tend to forget anything else that is on my mind. If you read a book right until your eyes are so heavy they are starting to burn, chances are once you put that book down you will fall right asleep without having any time to become distracted again.

Another thing that works for me is to watch a little bit of tv right up until im ready to fall asleep. If I watch a comedy for example it will usually lighten my mood and help me to have a better sleep in the end. Sometimes I will just turn on the tv and watch a couple shows until im just about asleep, set the sleep timer and I'm on my way. Many people do not have a television in their room so this may only work for some people.

I have also heard that if you buy a relaxing fountain that runs water and set it in your bedroom it will help to relax you and make you tired. You can buy many different fountains that suit pretty much any space in the house and even ones that look really nice. The soothing sound of the water helps to relax you. There are even fountains that give off a mist which is said to be soothing as well.

Sleeping aids are another option for those who just can't sleep even if they are not distracted or stressed. There are many sleepig aids available in any drug store these days that are safe and ok to use. Although sleeping pills are not good to use all of the time, they can come in handy for the nights where nothing else works.

There is also relaxation music you can get to help you relax at night time. This has been know to work well for many people. There are CD's that have nature sounds usually, to help you clear your mind as you lie awake at night time. This tends to work best if you lay in complete darkness or even wear a sleeping mask and imagine yourself surrounded by the nature you are hearing. Picture yourself in a beautiful waterfall, or taking a nature hike with the birds.

These are just a few suggestions I have for curing insomnia. Although they may not work for some people they do in fact work for others. Hopefully this has been helpful to some. Good luck getting a good night sleep.

Very nice hub in answer to my Request about Insomnia, The Bride. And I do so enjoy the picture you put there. Verrrrrrrry Funnnnnnnny, LOL. Also, you may want to take a look at the hub I wrote titled PSYCHOTHERAPY FOR INSOMNIA. Some of your bedtime practices are implied there, but you described it best from a personal point of view. Thanks. -Helen
