Plus Size Adult Costumes

If you can dream it up, they can make it. There are costumes in every style for plus sized men and women. It's frustrating not being able to find your size in any costume. I've put together some styles of costume to fit men and women.

As anyone knows by reading my hubs or website (linked in my hubs), I've struggled with my weight and to make others understand I'm not ALL about my weight. Being able to buy and wear sexy clothes makes me feel normal, no explanations necessary. And since I love costumes, I thought I'd list some of my favorites. So here are some plus size adult halloween costumes.

Flapper costumes are so much fun. Style and flair and they actually arose from adversity.

The flapper girls were a direct result of the binding, repressed 1800s dresses women were forced to wear. Huge bustles and stockings, long sleeves and binding corsets were forced upon women to find suitable men.

The women's revolution began in the late 1800s and developed by leaps and bounds in the early 1900s. In early 1925 women completely freed theselves from the bondage of their clothes and began to dress in loose fitting clothing. Women cut their hair short like boys and began to wear sleeveless dresses. Cloche hats were worn to show off short hair. This was the early 1920s.

The short hair and drop waist dress developed into the flapper style in the mid 1920s, a return to a bit of glamor for women, but the short hair was still worn as a symbol of women's freedom of style. You can read more about flappers on my vintage bridesmaid dress hub.

Is it any wonder that this symbol of women's rights is one of the best worn costumes of all time? And what a great plus size adult costume!

Who didnt think Johny Depp was the sexiest man in the world as Captian Jack Sparrow (I'm drooling atm just writing about it. There is something sexy about a pirate. And Jack was the combination of saucy and sweet. And you gotta love a guy with a sense of humor.

Unfortunately pirates were not like Jack Sparrow, they were kinda dirty and mean.. and really gross. Most had no teeth. The word Scurvy comes from the condition that well worn sailors had (ick ick), but we can pretend right?

Pirates, for me, will always represent and old old old movie called The Pirate Movie, with Kristy McNichol. And of course, Pirates of the Carribean.

I love the idea of a woman in pirates clothes, too. Something sexy and wicked about that. During one part of The Pirate Movie, Kristy McNichol dresses as one and quite honestly I think thats when I fell in love with pirates. I was about 10 at the time , I think =D.

Who is the best and brightest shining fairy you can think of? If you said Tinkerbell, you'd be thinking the same thing I do. Tinkerbell is one classy, sassy pixie of a woman. Little sexy green dress, Barbie's body, wings like an angel, attitude like a devil. You gotta love Tinkerbell. She would be my first choice of fairy costume, but mostly because its so obvious what costume you're wearing.

Other costumes are sexy and fun, but Tink is kind of unique.

Theres always the dark devilish fairy or the sweet angelic fairy.

So many ways to be feminine and exotic. I think that is the real secret of a fairy costume. Stepping completely outside your realm of normal and being a total fantasy.

Plus sized Disney costumes aren't easy to find. And besides Tinkerbell, there are at least 100 Disney characters I want to be.

Alice In Wonderland with her cakes would be fun. Lil signs that say eat me, drink me.

Snow White, the consumate out of the norm black haired beauty. Other than Bettie Page, there aren't many famous raven haired women.

Cinderella, while some may think she epitomizes the meek, I've always thought Cinderella was the story of kharma gone right. Cinderella's kind sweet ways, make her reap her rewards.

Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, not really Disney but so cute. The style they have isn't a big buxom dress either, its soft and sexy and pretty and makes you feel pretty!

For other sexy adult Disney costume choices, there are many choices.

The bottom line is there are tons of available styles and sizes for the plus sized person. We don't have to settle for the "fat" clothes anymore.
