Plus Size Coats - The Fit of Fashion

I am personally familiar with shopping for plus size women's clothing. Shopping for plus size clothing is both frustrating and fun. It can be very hard to find the right fit that will flatter your size and shape. You might not think much about it, but finding plus size coats that flatter can be just as difficult, but just as important.

Many people consider plus size coats to be just for function and never for fashion, like most plus size clothes. I say that is rubbish and a big girl has ever right to feel as fashionable as an average size girl in her cute pea coat or in her fur trimmed ski jacket plus size winter coat. Cute and fashionable plus size coats are possible to find, but you do have to look harder for them. Then when you do find them, you probably want to make sure you don't break the bank. Although finding a plus size coat that is flattering and performs its function of keeping you warm is more important than price. Sometimes it is worth it to pay for it when you find it.

I know how important it is to feel confident and sexy in your plus size clothing. It is difficult to accomplish sometimes and it can leave you feeling less that womanly if the clothes you are wearing make you feel even more fat! Plus size coats can be just as important as the outfit. I don't know a woman who does not look cute in a pea coat with jeans. Even plus size women can find a pea coat to flatter them, but it might take some time to try on a few and find one that is right for you. Plus size pea coats probably look the best on a pear shaped woman as they have a smaller waist, but can work for any shape, just make sure you buy a size bigger because remember you are wearing bulky clothes underneath.

Plus size coats often make big girls nervous because the last thing we want is something that is going to make us look bigger. This is especially difficult to avoid when you live in a very cold climate and actually need a warm coat. Warm coats are generally down filled and/or bulky. Bulky plus size coats are the bane of the big girl, but sometimes a necessity. One solution might be purchase a plus size coat that is made from GOR-TEX which protects against wind and wet, but tends to be less bulky than a down filled coat, but just as warm.

The Cost of Fashion

Plus size coats can be costly, but no more so than any other coat you might purchase. One tip would be to always buy on sale or search the Internet for deals. The best time to purchase any coat would be at the end of the season. Of course this means that selection might be slim and especially for plus size coats when they are hard to find in the first place and not many to be found in regular department stores. There are plus size clothing stores that cater to just women who are plus size and your selection might definitely be bigger there, but the selection would still be slim pickings after the season is over.

There is another time when you could purchase a plus size coat at a reasonable price and that is before the season begins.  Many stores today begin stocking items really early and often do a big sale push before the height of the season begins.  Usually at this time the selection is bigger than at the end of the season and the sales are great.  Of course you can always find discount prices online and that is one place I would check before buying.  It is important however to make sure you have tried on a few sizes and styles of plus size coats before you purchase online so you know how the coat will look and fit.
