The subtle breeze beckons to me

ushering me to move along

The dark night sky spreads like a sea

A sea of endless, long forgotten song

A song whose words

whose essence hidden

But message yet unblurred

From time's chisel, unforgiving

I see a star, yet come ablaze

shedding a light amongst the trail

a valley deep, comes at haste

my path soon to fail

This dark and dreadful night

though clawing, shredding closer

can not fortune to fight

amid the star's bright cover

I suddenly hear a rattle

-the patter of hurried feet

some unheard battle

pray, closer about to meet?

But no, with aw

amidst the darkness

no foe I saw

but a finger to lips pressed

"The night grows onward"

the stranger commanded

following him I dared

from darkness to be hid

Wearily we stumbled on

with radiant beam our guidance

Laughter I heard! Before long,

a peaceful quiet ambience

And to my dismay there was settled

the band of thieves, blades gleaming from the star

the strangers blade, outstretched, I pulled

plummeting steal and hilt and strength without a roar!

Mesmorized the assasin fell

my reaction to his dismay

then did I check to tell

if the camp of bandits were at bay

Still in the distance cheery

my seekers rejoiced, unawares

thoughts betraying my mind into worry

I quickly departed from my fears

And from that night so long ago

I humbly thank the light above

that revealed to me a coming roe

and blade, showing me of Thy Love!

This is impressive! I do write poetry and what I find the hardest thing is to make the words rhyme - it is hard enough to find the right words but to actually find those that rhyme? That said, I think yours came out effortless and not contrived or forced at all. Unlike the rhyming poems that remain in my back burner!

Btw, you may want to correct the misspellings in this one as they may prove to be the blots in the scutcheon of this otherwise beautiful work. Thanks for sharing :D
