Poem--A Remembrance

Twelve Years Ago-A Memory
Twelve years ago today
I walked these paths, I came this way
I held her hand, I held her heart
And vowed that we would never part
Redwood trees, and pines, and firs
These my joy as they were hers
Her very presence made my life
Fulfilled, for she was my wife
Twenty four hours before that time
I became hers and she became mine
Molded from two into one
So our life together had begun
Lighthearted were we on that day
As tall trees filtered the suns warm rays
And the warmth that grew within our hearts
We knew even then would not depart
But more than hearts, our souls were wed
And in our life God's Spirit led.

My first wife and I spent the first days of our honeymoon in the Mt. Hermon area of northern California after being married on September 2, 1967. I visited Mt. Hermon again on September 3, 1979, seven months after her death at the age of 31. As with my hub At Home With Her Lord, I am somewhat hesitant to post this due to the intensely personal nature. Again, however, it is simply my hope that this might be of some benefit to someone browsing Hub Pages.

I think it is more than wonderful that you are able to express your pain passage with the evident faith that you possess. And that only comes from the Divine, through experience, and our choosing to...Thanks for sharing it.
