64Diabetes How I don't Like You!
Diabetes, how I dislike you!!
Do you remember how I really did not like the word Cancer?
Here I am, with another word coming close to the displeasure of that awful word Cancer. Starting with a C. Now along comes another word beginning with a D. Diabetes.
People, do you have it? Or do you know? Check it out, don't let it grow. Friend and companion to the C word. Words I do not like, and gosh, we fight them.
Sugar. How I love it. Such a Sweet word. Such a pleaser. How could something as sweet as sugar, hurt a child, or its' mother? Yum, think of cupcakes, chocolates, and don't forget Cola!
Sugar, there should be a Warning Label! Give me a sugar teat (that's what they called them-rhymed with mitt). Given to babies to give up that bottle...
Give up the bottle for a cloth full of sugar? Yes, they did, I had a few. No, my teeth did not last a lifetime. (But I have the new ones!).
Diabetes, is that when it began? Or was it later, with the Cola and chewing gum, shakes, malts, and cherry pie?
Had a sister, I really loved her. Ate her sugar, went into the coma. Thought she would make it.....
Mother had it, just found that out. Gran's family, some of them did, too. No one told me, no one warned me. Here I am, explaining this. Gosh, Listen, people, check your sugar!
Starting at the age of two, younger maybe, I don't know. Check their sugar, okay, let the nurse do it! Check your sugar and your cousins, if you love them check their sugar. (glucose, some call it).
Learn to eat right. Help, I'm going to starve. Go without sugar? Is that really possible?
Exercise. Ouch, it hurts. Hey, that means it's working. But, I'm too tired-it gives you energy. But, but, but...
Okay, so you're old enough to know all this. Eat right, drink lots of water, (hey,it flushes the sugar), exercise. You know this, okay, but what about your daughter, your son, or that rogue of a son-in-law you never liked?
Are you teaching your children and grandchildren to eat right, exercise, and drink plenty of water? Cool, clear, water. Or Kool-aid, Cola, Hot Chocolate?
Starting young maybe we can help them, where would they be without our wisdom? Love them, help them, let's fight these words starting with C and D, maybe even exterminate them.
Do you have Diabetes? I do.

Hi Betty Jo,
Diabetes runs in my family also. I have spent most of my life doing everything different than the members that have it. So I started with the health food craze that began in the 60's, and have tried many things to this day. I don't have it.
check out www.mercola.com (sorry I don't know how to do links yet). It is a newsletter with current research and information by mainstream doctors that have joined the health food and alternative medicine lifestyle. I am sure you will find a article or more on diabetes. There are many ways to deal with it other than shots and prescription drugs...which for some people exacerbates health concerns.
Take care...keep up the good writing...we can only get better!

The way we eat and the exercise we get is important. Also, drink water. I try to stress this should all be taught to very young children. I began my life, after the bottles of milk, on sugar!!!
I have a sister that has remained diabetes-free. So, who knows? One sister died in a diabetic coma, my oldest sister, brother, and I have it.
All I can add is, take precautions not to get it. If you have it, fight it with food choices, drink choices, and Exercise.
Water flushes sugar. If you have consumed sugar of any source, drink water, and get some exercise.
