Poetry As A Tribute For A Grandmother, With Grandmother Gift Suggestions

G is for all of Grandma's flowers, each one of them had special powers.

Sweet they smelled and large they grew, Grandma's fingers were green, I knew.

Gardenias were her favorite though, and everyday she'd watch them grow.

R is for the radio, playing George Putnam loud and clear, her political opinion you'd undoubtedly hear.

"Our Nations President," she'd mournfully wail, "doesn't belong in the White House, he should be in jail."

A is for her special aroma. It makes you feel so at home, ah!, when you walk in her house or smell her spouse, Grandma will always be there.

N is for her never ending love of family, they were always number one in her book. Just get them together and boy could she cook.

Her meals were a production and man were they great, but heaven forbid you leave some on your plate.

"Have some more" she would say as she scooped a heap on your dish. To please all your taste buds was her only wish.

D is for "Dear!" she would say when dearest Grandpa did disobey. D is also for desserts, a sweet tooth she had. And as her Grandson boy was I glad. Twoheys Bittersweet Sundaes were always a hit, yes, dessert after dinner we did never omit.

M is for music so sweet to the ear, the songs sung at church she sang loud and clear.

Good music was all she let enter her head, "That Stuff on the radio's just junk's" what she said.

0 is for the old movies Grandma did keep, she loved to watch them instead of sleep.

Names like Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Debbie Reynolds, and Judy Garland did frequent her screen, and a rating above "G" would never be seen.

T is for the Temple work in which she took part. Her love for the Temple so near to her heart.

Her steadfast example to all she did give, her service to others that they might eternally live.

H is for Grandma's home and her hair, both neat as a pin, she always did care.

She slept with neck pillows to keep her hair in it's place. In her house dirt and grime there was never a trace.

E is for her Eternal companion, Lynn. They stuck by each other through thick and through thin.

R is for Grandma's choice of always choosing the Right. Keeping her goals ever foremost in her sight. You are an example to me it is true. Grandma I love you, I love you, I do!

This was written by my son when he was 10 years old, for his grandmother's funeral. I thought it was so wonderful, I would share it. I hope you enjoy it.
