Throwing Love Away

Losing love is never easy, but when someone throws away every reminder, every gift or note we ever gave them, it hurts even more.  It feels as though they've done all they could to throw US away.  Ouch!

Many poems have been written about the pain and heartache of losing love, of being thrown away.  This is one of those kind of poems.

Love Thrown Away

There they laid of all places/ scattered cases cracked/ I caught a glint of what was left/ throwing out a small beam of light/  Why there of all places the Cds/ old and new I had given you/ tossed hard and carelessly away/ in a dumpster behind the cafe/ our special place to meet between classes/ hugging hot cups or cold glasses/ of sustenance at the Georgetown Cafe/ in Old DC?

You can throw love away but I'm damned if/ you're depriving me of all the memories/ from all the times you used to love me/ after we'd danced away hours to the old Cds.

Ahhhh! poignant and funny: great combination, it 's always difficult to achieve; but you've done it here, with the photo undercutting the words in the poem. And I love the suggestion for what to do with old cd's -- I have stacks of them in a box, don't need them now with iPod and back-up hard drives and flash drives, etc.

You do my heart good, Teresa, with such nice compliments. I hope to do a hub soon on the various things that can be done with old Cds : ) Have a happy day.
