Pointing my phone at flowers..
59When I'm walking around the neighbourhood with my daughter, I can often be seen pointing my phone at flowers and trees.
We don't live in a particularly rural area (being that we're in the suburbs of London), but we often come across such beautiful flowers, trees, plants and other natural wonders that I just can't help recording them! Our digital camera broke recently, but I've found that I get some okay results using the camera on my phone, which is a Nokia 6300, with a 2 megapixel camera.
Here are a few photos from my collection. See what you think.
Daffodils
It always makes me really happy to see the first daffodils of the year, as they are a sure sign that spring will soon be here.
Even if there's still a chill in the air, these golden flowers make me feel optimistic for the better weather and lighter, longer days to come.
Poppies
Poppies are my favourite wild flowers. They're so bright and cheery!
And I find them quite fascinating; they appear so thin, fragile and papery, yet they're such a lovely, bold red; and are hardy enough to grow just about anywhere.
These ones just grew up against someone's wall.
Pinks
These beautiful, pink round blossoms popped up in our garden for the first time this year. We didn't plant them, so they were a lovely surprise!
The strange angle of this photo makes them look as if they're growing upside down!
If anyone can tell me what kind of flowers they are, I'd love to know...
Woody Plant
We found this dry, wild looking plant in our local park.
It stood out amongst the green, flowery and ordered plants that surrounded it.
This plant was doing its own thing; a wild tangle of thick woody blades. And it seemed at once beautiful, dramatic, earthy and natural.
Buddleia
We are lucky enough to have purple and pink buddleia flowering in our garden each year. They add a lovely splash of colour, have the most delicious sweet perfume, and attract lots of pretty butterflies.
This is such a happy, relaxing photo for me to look at, and it's my photo of the summer. I took it on a beautiful, sunny day while I was lying back on the grass, gazing up at the purple buddleia against the lovely blue sky.
So, for me, this photo represents relaxation, warmth and contentment!
