Poker Room Review - Venetian

The Venetian poker room is one of the best poker rooms in Las Vegas. With nearly 11,000 square feet of space and 42 tables, it is one of the largest poker rooms in the city. With such a large floor space it is very comfortable to play in. There is plenty of room between the tables so you are not being bumped by other players as they pass between the tables.

The Venetian also offers a wide variety of cash games. You can almost always find a 1-2, 2-5 and a 5-10 no-limit Texas Hold’em game. If you play limit Hold’em 4-8 is usually all you will find. There is also a regular 4-8 Omaha Hi/Lo game with a half kill. Thursday through Saturday you can usually find a 1-2 and a 2-5 Pot limit Omaha game. I have seen an occasional H.O.R.S.E game get together on Saturdays. The poker room will of course offer to spread any game and place an interest list on the boards.

The Venetian has some of the best tournaments available. You can play Sunday through Friday at noon for $150. If you bust out don’t worry, there is a 7PM tournament for $120 on the same days. On Saturdays the stakes are a little higher with their noon tournament costing $550 to buy-in. The 7PM tournament on Saturdays is the same as the rest of the week at $120. With 7500 is starting chips on their daily tournaments and half hour blind increases, it is easily one of the best structured daily tournaments to be found. The Saturday noon tournament starts out with 15,000 in chips and blinds are every 40 minutes.

The Deep Stack Extravaganza Series is a tournament series the Venetian offers four times throughout the year. The buy-ins for the Deep Stack series range from $330 to as much as $5,000. The majority of the tournaments are in the $330 to $550 range. The turnouts for these tournaments are excellent. With small buy-ins and large fields, first place prize money can be over $90,000 for the lower buy-in tournaments.

The Venetian is one of the few casinos on the strip that offers its players comps for their play. You can get between $1 and $1.50 per hour depending on what type of game you play. The dollar amount you acquire can be used to order food from the food service that is located inside the poker room. You can also use your comp dollars for a message from a masseuse that works in the poker room.
