Police CAD System
70CAD
If you live in a somewhat large town to medium sized town, you might have access to a website called ‘CAD’. This CAD website is your local polices’ dispatch website in which you can see all the emergency calls that are currently taking place. This website is always fun to get on and check what’s going on in your town. This CAD website might be off the main website of your city. Below are some of the things CAD offers.
Abbreviations
On the CAD website, the nature of the call will be abbreviated followed by the full version of the call. For example, Major Accident would be ACCMAJ. So it would look like this: ACCMAJ/Major Accident. Here are some other abbreviations that you might see.
CALARM/Commercial Alarm
T/Traffic Stop
PROWL/Prowler in Progress
RALARM/Residential Alarm
SUSPER/Suspicious Person
DWI/Driving While Intoxicated
INVEST/Investigation
DOM/Domestic Disturbance
RUNAWA/Runaway Report
WEAP/Person with a Weapon
SS/Subject Stop
MEECOM/Meet Complainant
BARCHK/Bar Check
UNKVIP/Unknown Violence in Progress
PI/Public Intoxication
ACCHIT/Hit and Run Accident
WELFAR/Welfare Check
DISLOU/Disturbance of Loud Music
RASALT/Assault Report
CAD’s Purpose
The purpose of CAD’s operations is not to inform the public on what is going on, but rather inform the police officers. From what I understand, the police officers can access this site through the computers in their police cars. But it is cool that the public has access to what is going on in their cities. This website is also helpful if you have a police scanner. You might be following an event, but caught it right in the middle. You can check CAD to see what it is you are listening too!
CAD’s Layout
At the top of the site is the time. Just below this, is all the data. First are the beat numbers and the nature of the calls. Second is the priority number. The priority number is basically a number, 1 to 4, on the rating of that crime. If the crime is very urgent, the number would be 1. If it was a ‘take your time’ kind of call, it would fit under priority 4. Next is the date, time of call, and the event number. After this is the location of the crimes. The location is prime when chasing these crimes! After the location is a map of where the crime is taking place and the status. The status is either E911, ENROUTE, or ONSCENE. This is the placement of the units.

I think if I knew what was really going on in my town real-time, I'd hide behind the couch permanently. We're way too small to have anything like this, I'm sure. We're lucky to have enough money to put gas in the cop cars!
Very interesting, John! What's the most interesting call you've seen?
Thanks Tom!
Haha! Hmm, thats a good question! I have seen (and chased) some pretty interesting ones! One time there was a man who stole a car and went to hide in the woods real close to my house! I was creeped out beyond imagine! They had helicopters and cops everywhere, but they didn't catch him! They did a really great job. I can't sleep at night though! LOL jk
Thanks for the comments!
