Police Impound Auctions: How I Buy Cheap Autos And Save Thousands
63What you are going to learn here...
Why am I going to talk about police impound auctions? Simply because they allowed me to save thousands of dollars on the last 3 autos I bought, a Subaru Forester 2.5 from 2008, a 2009 BMW 325i and 2008 a Chevy Silverado 2500. All in all, I saved $27,300 compared to the bluebook price (or used car market values). How did I do it? I found a great online resource that told me what I had to know about maximizing your savings at impound auctions (ok, I admit, I did not find it right away, but after 2 below expectations online resources I hit the jackpot). Read on and I will tell you more about it.
Police Impound Auctions?
Police impound auctions are held to get rid of mostly police or government impounded vehicles in a timely manner. Cars, trucks or other vehicles and private property items are seized for many reasons, being unpaid amounts owed to the government, or assets impounded by a government agency in criminal convictions.
These agencies cannot afford to store the thousands of daily impounded items because of logistics and maintenance costs. So they are willing to let them go at ridiculously low prices, and the most efficient and fast way to do so is through auctions, whether they are live or online.
Where I found the auction listings for dirt cheap like-new cars
Ok, you know about getting the bargains you can snatch at police impound auctions, but where do you find them?
Auction events are usually advertised in local newspapers to let people know about
them. So the first thing you could do, if you are on a dime, is to continuously check the local
classified ads in your area's main newspaper. You can also check local TV stations so you don't miss out any announcement.
BUT...
A more convenient and efficient way is to subscribe to an internet service collecting all national, state, county and city auction listings. There are several available, and I must admit I went through 2 mediocre membership sites before finding the top notch service I now use not only for cars and trucks, but also to purchase other property items dead cheap.
So, I found out about the service on where to access police impound auctions almost by mistake (following links to links to links from an initial search I did). The website in question isĀ http://policeimpoundauctions.net. It will tell you how to proceed to get started.
