Pool tips for setting up an above ground pool
63What to consider when putting up a swimming pool
Hello everyone, last year my family and I decided to put up a swimming pool. I must say that at first I was excited, but you will definitely want to read this before you get started setting up your own.
Of course the first thing you will want to decide is what size pool is right for you? I have bought my share of small pools year after year and last year decided to buy a 24foot by 4foot 4inches pool.
What compelled me to buy such a large pool you may ask. Well to make a long story short, it was on sale at Wal-Mart. I bought a pool that is normally $800.00 for $525.00.
Tip number one if you can have some patients and wait you will find a much better deal at your local store that sell pools closer to the end of pool season.
The next thing is you will need to figure out where you want to put it. There are several things to consider when choosing the spot for your pool and I have listed them below.
1. You will want to choose a spot that is close to a water supply.
2. You will want a spot that has a little shade if you prefer.
3. You will want a spot that does not have any sharp objects on it that can puncture the pool.
4. You will want a spot that is level. I made the mistake of not leveling my land out totally before I put the pool up. I went by eye level and what looks good and the bigger the pool, the more level of spot you will want to have. If your ground isn't level there are several things you can do to fix it.
5. I chose to bring in 16 tons of sand to level my ground out. I built a frame toward the low part of my ground and started dumping the sand.
6. You will want to make sure to pack the sand down and level it before starting to install your pool.
7. I recommend using a level and a 2 by 4 and start in the middle of the ground and start working your way in a circular motion.
8. Once you have the ground level that is the hardest part. Next you will want to inspect the ground one last time for anything sharp that might puncture your pool. Once inspected you will want to cover the area with a tarp.
9. Next just start putting the pieces together as described in your manual. Once you have installed it, make sure that the drain plugs are plugged before you start filling it with water, also make sure that the bottom of the pool is completely pushed out at the bottom as this will be harder to fix once water is added.
10. If you have a pool the size of mine, it will take you about 3 days to fill it. For smaller pools it will take less time to fill.
11. Once your pool is full you will want to keep it clean. I will write a hub in the near future on how to clean a pool and what to look for.
I hope this has helped you and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.
