Creme da la Creme Liqueurs

Decadent cream liqueurs for dessert, coffee, ice cream, pie, pancakes and waffles and last as long as a bag of potato chips. Have you tried a recipe yet?

The introduction of Baileys (R) Irish Cream liqueur back in 1974 sells up to three times more than other liqueurs and evolved into the introduction of various other rivals with Irish whiskey as the main base. Bailey’s mix of coffee, cocoa, vanilla scent and dash of Irish whiskey make it one of the most popular liqueurs.

The following is a list of newer liqueurs that share in the same popularity and flavor but prices will vary depending upon your location ;

Carolan’s Irish Cream , hint of vanilla caramel.
Emmet’s Irish Cream Liquor, hints at coconut
O’Darby’s Irish Cream, similar to Jamoca Almond Fudge ice cream
Paolina Cappuccino Cream, Italian blend, add to espresso
Amarula Cream, S African blend, exotic floral-fruity flavor, most successful non-coffee flavored liqueur
Tequila Rose, strawberry cream with tequila
Orange Cream Liqueur, Creamsicle taste
Cremaretto, amaretto flavored cream liqueur

New trends have pastel colors and sherbet flavors being developed for our palate enjoyment and many other flavors. It’s been recommended that cream liqueurs do not get mixed with beer, wine or sour juices like lemon or lime flavored beverages. They are most friendly with non-alcoholic beverages like milk, fruit nectars, soda and may include cola.

Most liqueurs have a lower alcohol content than other alcohol liquors and can be made from or contain several added ingredients such as sugar, full fat milk powder, non-fat milk solids, sugar, flavorings, coloring, preservatives and a thickening agent which will prevent the cream and alcohol from separating with a resulting decadent flavor.


Cream liqueurs may be served chilled , neat, on the rocks or in mugs of coffee, tea or hot chocolate and have been mixed with a variety of other liquors such as vodka, rum, cognac, cassis and amaretto. Their shelf life remains stable, unopened for months but for many households they do not last long before another bottle may need to be purchased.

A few ideas to investigate experimenting with liqueurs, are as follows ;

Drizzle 1-2 Tbs warmed liqueur (rum, Marnier, cognac, etc.) Over omelet before folding. Fold, drizzle with 2-3 Tbs more. Blaze with a match and serve flaming.
– Pour liqueur in ice cube tray and freeze. Add to coffee, tea, hot chocolate
– Mix with cream cheese recipes
– Add to jello pie mix

I highly recommend, that we drink responsibly and if necessary, have a designated driver or hand your car keys over to your host and hostess and take a cab home. It’s alright to have fun, party and be merry but let’s at least stay safe, for both you and your friends.

Wow, great hub. I love to experiment with new flavors. You've given me a few I have not tried yet. Like the Paolina Cappuccino Cream and Amarula Cream, they both sound good. Next time I'm down at the liquor store I will have to look for these two.

I love liqueur coffees--a shot of these liqueurs you mention dropped into a hot latte. :) My favorites are Baileys, Amaretto, and Amarula. This is an awesome hub. :)
