Popular metals for men's wedding rings

In my experience, which includes shopping for my husband's wedding band, white gold is currently the most popular trend in men's wedding bands (and women's for that matter). This is what we would typically call "silver", but it is actually a type of gold.

Bands made of yellow gold are also available in many different styles, and they are probably the second most popular, if the selection in jewlery stores is any indication.

Titanium wedding bands are also available, and attractive to some men (my husband included) for their "manly" qualities (i.e. virtually indestructible). However, I was told by a clerk in a jewelry store that titanium bands were hazardous at times, because of their indestructible nature. She said that if you were in some type of accident that damaged your hand while wearing a titanium ring, that hospital workers would probably have to amputate the finger, because they wouldn't be able to cut off the ring like they would typically do with a normal gold band. I have not known anyone that this has happened to, so it is purely speculation, but I think it is something to be aware of as you shop for rings.

Another note as you are selecting your rings: In the day and age we live in, traditional guidelines for weddings and such are being disregarded more and more. It is not necessarily expected for a husband and wife to have matching wedding rings. My husband's band is white gold, and mine is yellow gold. We chose these styles for personal reasons, and the selection of different metals made at least one decision that much easier in the planning of our wedding! So, don't make things harder than they have to be--if you want different rings, buy different rings. It's your life, and your wedding, so be happy with it! Good Luck!
