I Love Jesus!

Christianity Can be Cool....

No, I am NOT a religious person. In fact, I must frankly admit that I have no penchant for religion. Okay, let me express it quite frankly and say that I think that ALL religions do not make sense to me. Probably because religion always MUST have this "clergy" --- and I do not think that God needs too many people to deliver a message.

However, Christianity has its positive aspects.Christmas is certainly one of them and there is NOTHING like all those artful Nativity scenes and flashing colored lights. Also, I like babies and there's nothing as lovely to look at as babies with a mother and all those gentle animals (I love animals).

Another awesome thing about Christianity is that the Inquisition is over. The Pope doesn't have the powers it used to have and lately, I haven't read of any wackos who have killed anyone because she/he was hearing voices from "god". Christianity today seems to be refreshing, in-tune with the times -- except perhaps for their disallowing condom distribution in third world countries -- but this is a POSITIVE article.

I also love Jesus. Can you imagine a 4BC Jew chatting it out with a Samaritan woman? How cool is that? I also like how he treated the woman caught in adultery. I mean, Jesus was a civilized human being -- he never allowed the stoning to women even in the 4th century (or was that the first century?). Thus, I can only conclude that Jesus was a rather modern man.. and I love modern men. He also had a social life which was great.. I mean, he was everywhere, had all sorts of friends (even tax collectors) and that meant he wasn't at all anti-social. He even understood that wine was important and saved a newly wed couple from public embarrassment which was kind of nice of him.

He also wasn't a traditionalist which was extremely impressive -- I mean, that was almost two thousand years ago and he wanted to change the world and make it better. He RESPECTED the innocence of kids, didn't "mess" around with them and had sublime respect for women. In fact, the first witness to his resurrection was a woman which MUST have meant something. He also didn't start wars when he could have at that point... in fact, he discouraged having to do violence to little girls (and boys) ; women; widows; and any living thing.

If Christianity was ALL Jesus, I see no problem with it. After all, these days, it's not the Christians who are making a killing (ooops pun!) but their clergy who are still housed in those rather nice villas and mansions -- oh, and all in Jesus' name! That's why I have problems with clergy -- the go-betweens -- who need your tithe, contribution, money ... or want to sell you their prophetic books. I also doubt if Jesus would want to kill nuts like the Presidents of Venezuela and Iran. He's too cool it seems to be suggesting that Hugo Chavez should be assassinated...

Anyway, the best thing I love about Jesus -- is that was was a Jew. I like Jews. They have a great sense of humor which probably is the reason for their survival and they don't come knocking at my doors trying to evangelize me. They're also great businessmen -- and I see nothing wrong with that.

Anyway, back to Christianity, yes it's cool if only more Christians practiced it. But hey even Christians are cool lately! I haven't read one recently who wanted his strap a bomb on his three year old kid. Well.. maybe that means that most Christians aren't into these old-fashioned medieval "religion" anymore. That's really positive news!

I appreciate and agree with what your point of view seems to be. I don't think that in the first century any of the believers were members of anything. They met and learned about what was the most important event ever.
