Positive thinking means that you'll be less stressed and bogged down with negative thoughts, you'll start to believe in yourself a little more, you'll be freer to do the things you want, and you'll generally be a happier person.

However, it can be hard to get started, especially if you generally believe that things are bad. Here is some advice to get you on the right track.

Positive Thinking Can Be Learned

Firstly, you'll need to believe that positive thinking can be learned. It may take a while, but it's definitely possible with the right positive thinking techniques.

The first technique is to stop yourself whenever you recognise a negative thought. Start saying 'no' or 'stop' whenever something negative comes to mind. At first this might not seem to make much difference, but if you start to consciously replace negative thoughts with positive ones then you'll really start to change your mindset over a period of time.

Sometimes we don't even realise how many times we let those negative thoughts in throughout the day, so you can also use another technique that notes down your negative thoughts. This involves writing down a tick for every time you think a negative thought, and you can even mark them into categories if you need to. This can help even the most oblivious person become more aware of when they're thinking negatively.

However, these techniques are not going to help you to learn to be more positive unless you have the motivation to do so. If you see a problem then you'll have the desire you need to think more positively.

Here are some other techniques to help you become more positive day by day:

Gratitude: Remembering why you are lucky, and thanking the people and things you are grateful for, can really make a difference in your life. Try making a list of everything that's great about your life and you'll be focusing on the good instead of the bad.

Talk to People: Sometimes other people can make us feel negative. Instead of bottling things up, try to tell people when they upset you. This might be difficult at first, but it's far better than holding back negative emotion.

Try Proven Methods: There are a number of proven methods when it comes to thinking more positively. This can include meditation, music, books, CDs, exercise and more.

The most powerful positive thinking techniques involve knowing that you are in a position to change your life if you want to. You can change the way you think, and you can choose to be happy.

Positive Thinking is a very powerful Tool and I think its a healthier alternative to taking drugs for depression etc. Lovely Hub.
