Everybody has their own favourite horror movie monsters and their own favourite horror movie quotes, for me the five following quotes are a step above the rest and each is guaranteed to send a chill down my spine.

Horror Movie Quote Number 5 - Invasion of the Body Snatchers

"Where you gonna go, where you gonna run, where you gonna hide? Nowhere... 'Cause there's no one like you left."

Matthew Bennell is a San Francisco health inspector who, with his friend and colleague Elizabeth Driscoll, discovers that people are being replaced by replicas grown from plantlike pods. The replicas are near-perfect duplicates with the same memories and appearance as the original person, but are emotionless. The pods are able to duplicate humans only when they are asleep, and the original human bodies disintegrate after the duplicate is fully formed. The pod people then work together to spread more pods so more people can be replaced until they have eliminated the entire human race.

Horror Movie Quote Number 4 - Dawn of the Dead

"When there's no more room in Hell, the dead will walk the Earth."

Dawn of the Dead (also known as 'Zombi' internationally) is a 1978 horror film, written and directed by George A. Romero. It was the second film made in Romero's Living Dead series, but contains no characters or settings from its predecessor, and shows in larger scale a zombie epidemic's apocalyptic effects on society.

Horror Movie Quote Number 3 - The Exorcist

"He's a liar. The demon is a liar. He will lie to confuse us. But, he will also mix lies with the truth to attack us. The attack is psychological, Damien, and powerful. So don't listen. Remember that, do not listen."

The Exorcist is a 1973 U.S. horror film directed by William Friedkin, adapted from the 1971 novel of the same name by William Peter Blatty, dealing with the demonic possession of a young girl, and her mother’s desperate attempts to win back her daughter through an exorcism conducted by two priests.

Horror Movie Quote Number 2 - The Poltergeist

"They're Here-e-e-e-e...!"

In the first and most successful film of the ‘Poltergeist’ trilogy (released on June 4, 1982), a group of seemingly benign ghosts begin communicating with five-year-old Carol Anne Freeling in her parents' suburban California home via static on the television. Eventually they use the TV as their path into the house itself. They kidnap Carol Anne, and most of the film involves the family's efforts to rescue her. Eventually they do, but then the spirits, led by a demon known only as The Beast, go on a rampage.

Horror Movie Quote Number 1 - A Nightmare on Elm Street

"1 - 2 - Freddy's coming for you
3 - 4 - Better lock your door
5 - 6 - Grab your crucifix
7 - 8 - Better stay up late
9 - 10 - Never sleep again..."

A Nightmare on Elm Street is a 1984 American horror film directed and written by Wes Craven, and the first film of the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. The film is set in the fictional Midwestern town of Springwood, Ohio, the plot revolves around several teenagers being terrorized in their nightmares by the ghost of a serial child murderer named Fred Krueger.

Why can't they make horror movies like these anymore? Is there no original thought left? Good hub as always Mrvoodoo. Although it's not a line, I really like the ending to "Sleep Away Camp." Please tell me you've seen it!

Mr VooDoo - Hannibal Lecter rode my spine really bad. I never watched the movie through in one sitting. Really wound me up. And in fairness - it wasn't as gory as I expected, despite some of the more bloody scenes. It was the atmosphere that got me. I crapped myself :)

And my favourite quote is the Polergeist one. And I've yet to watch The Exorcist. I just can't seem to bring myself to sit down and watch it.

For a big baby, I have to say I like to frighten myself silly.

Hey dohn121, I've not seen 'Sleep away camp' it must have slipped by me, I'll have to check it out. The age of good horror does seem to have passed, Asia probably leads the way these days with regards to original horror, but even that's getting a little tired at the moment. I'm sure something will come along when we least expect it. =)

Hey FD, Dr Hannibal Lecter is indeed a very scary movie villain, and certainly the scariest of the 'human' movie monsters. There's something very creepy about that poltergeist quote "They're he-e-e-r-e..!" lol.

I was torn between 'Pennywise' and 'The Poltergeist (The Beast)', It was close but I went for the Poltergeist, terrifying.

Go watch the Exorcist. =)

Gosh, I would say Freddie gets my vote. Dreams are such a strange and sometimes scary thing anyway, and the fact that he preyed on children and in their dreams just chilled me to the bone. I agree with the frog about The Exorcist, I've tried watching it and just can't bring myself to set through it. The book was bad enough, and the movie, probably I would consider it the scariest movie ever made.

'They're heeeere' from 'Poltergeist' always scares me silly. But there's also 'Here's Johnny' from 'The Shining' that also keeps me awake at night...

I don't like horror movies of the really horrible type, but I prefer lighter ones over drama. I hate to see drama, because I know that what I see is happening to people somewhere on this planet in real time and that it could easily happen to my friends too. This can't be called entertainment. While horror is unrealistic, it will never happen and the monster is funky. :)
