Post Office Travel Insurance and Other Options
55Many of Britons look forward to at least one or two holidays a year for ourselves our spouse and children. We take the time out during the year to plan where we are going and what we're going to do when we get there. We get all excited about the fact that we are finally taking a well-deserved break after working all year long. And often times we are so excited about the trip, we forget about one of the most important things, like insuring our family's safety and belongings. Whether it is by airplane, train, cruise ship, or car you should always consider covering yourself and anyone else that is traveling along with you with some type of travellers insurance. While you don't expect to have to cancel your trip or to have something medically go wrong while you are traveling emergencies do happen.
What if you fall and break your leg? What if your luggage doesn't show up when you do? Or you lose your passport or wallet? What would happen if you were holidaying out of the country and someone on the trip got suddenly ill and needed medical attention? Many primary health care plans don't cover you. However, most travel insurance services specialize in travel related plans. When determining how much insurance you need, it is good to know ahead of time, the total cost of the trip you are planning. In most instances the travel insurance company requires that you to have your trip paid in full or at least partially paid for when you decide to purchase the travel insurance. Age can also be a factor in the cost of the travel insurance, as well as pre-existing medical conditions.
Post Office Travel Insurance
Most travel insurance policies are not that expensive and for an additional cost of thirty or forty pounds you can purchase a plan that will cover pre-existing medical conditions.
Is popular with many Britons because every High Street has a Post Office. But there are other opions too which might be cheaper. There are different types of travel insurance packages to choose from. For instance, Trip Cruise, or Flight Cancellation could run a couple anywhere from 200 pounds up to 800 pounds depending on what company you choose. The difference in the pricing usually depends on how much you are covered for medically and how much you are allowed for emergency evacuations. Those amounts are usually anywhere from $100,000 to $1 million dollars.
According Insuremytrip.com, True Travel Super Saver offers one of the lowest rates for a traveler's insurance package. For a couple in their early fifties who have paid a total cost of $5,000.00 for their trip to Hawaii would pay a low non-refundable rate of $149.00.
The package includes, trip cancellation at $2,500.00, trip interruption at $2,500.00. There is also travel insurance for baggage lost or damaged at $600.00. If your bags are delayed 12 hours or more the policy allows $100.00 for incidentals or change of clothing until your bags arrive. For travel delay of 6 hours or more the policy allows for $200.00 a day, up to a $600.00 maximum for hotel room or meals if you're delayed overnight. There is $10,000.00 of medical and hospitalization insurance. And with that there is a $50.00 deductible cost to the insured. There is $750.00 of dental insurance included in the medical insurance and there is $1 million for emergency medical evacuation.
Another benefit of the Super Saver package is 24-hour roadside assistance services available to you up to your benefit limit without any additional payments.
With the World Health Organization declaring Swine Flu a pandemic many people are worried about contracting the flu while on vacation. And while many travel services don't cover quarantine or pandemic, Travel Insurance Select does. They will cover trip interruption and travel delay due to quarantine, and their "Cancel For any Reason" benefit allows you to cancel your trip up to two days before departure and receive 75% reimbursement, no matter what.
Ready2Travel have insured more than 6 million travelers a year for the past twenty years, however their plan is relatively higher. For a couple with the same description as the above the quoted rate is $307.00 and the coverage isn't that much different.
If you are planning to travel outside of your country insuremytrip.com has several different International Travel services to compare and choose from. The great thing about insuremytrip.com is that they are highly integrated with their partner insurance companies. And although they are based on-line, as soon as they receive your order their databases are updated and a confirmation email is sent directly to you detailing your coverage.
Many people ask the question: How important is it to have travel insurance? And a travel specialist will tell you that if you take the time out to insure your life, cars, homes and other valuable things then, it makes practical sense to go that extra mile and make the sacrifice to spend a few extra dollars to ensure the safety of you and your family while on your vacation.
