Pot Limit Omaha
If you really like to gamble and play fast, pot limit omaha may be the best poker game for you. Do you want to learn how to play pot limit omaha poker? Below are the best 4 books on the subject. I've also included Sam Farha's book as #5. It isn't all that great, but you might want to read it anyway just so you have an idea how not to play and how not to think about the game. He is recognized as one of the best pot limit omaha players, but the book just stinks.
Read them, read them again, and play regularly. In no time you'll be beating the middle limit games. To beat the games at the highest level, you'll need expereince, heart, and a lot of talent. Reading books can only take you so far!

#1 - Pot-Limt & No-Limit Poker by Stewart Reuben and Bob Ciaffone
- not a "manual" - (5 Stars)
Most of the negative reviews below come from LIMIT players who have probably read Sklansky's books and expect a lot of "if A then do B or C" and a lot of specific advice. Big bet poker is a bit different in that it would be foolish to give such specific advice. You're going to cost yourself a lot of money (profit or just lose money) if you play cookie cutter poker. Ciaffone and Reuben's book is good in that it teaches you about how to take into consideration your stack size, your opponent's stack size, and the pot size before acting among other important concepts. That alone is worth the cost of the book.Regarding the review below: They recommending betting a set on the flop more in potlimit than in no-limit. Checking a set (when you have a pocket pair) in potlimit is going to limit your profits because if everyone checks behind you can only bet/raise the size of the pot on the turn. In nolimit, you can bet whatever you want whenever so checking isn't as costly. Also how does flopping a set when you have a pocket pair automatically imply there is a dangerous flop. In anycase, I ramble. Go to the twoplustwo.com forums to find other positive reviews of this book by MANY bigbet poker players. Mason Malmuth also HIGHLY recommends this book for you sklansky and malmuth fans. - 6 years ago

#2 - Pot-Limit Omaha Poker - Jeff Hwang
- Systematic and lucid - (5 Stars)
Jeff Hwang has written the most helpful and insightful book on Omaha poker available. I also purchased Bob Ciaffone's 'Omaha Poker' and 'Pot Limit & No Limit Poker' by Reuben and Ciaffone. All three of these cash-game oriented books are valuable additions to a well rounded poker players library. However, Hwang is far more systematic in his presentation of key ideas, his prose is lucid, and his insights are gold. Those insights have provided 90% of improvement in my game that I have gained by reading these books. After a brief intro, Hwang jumps right into his core thesis: you only want to get involved with hands that have big play potential. Big play hands have structures that allow you to bet strongly when flopping the nuts with redraws to even better nuts by the time you reach the river. He then goes on to map out all of the types of big play potential hand structures in a clear and systematic way. While the big play notion, and the importance of counting nut outs have been made before, the systematic and lucid presentation in 'Pot-Limit Omaha Poker' really make it shine. If you are hold em player who is branching out into Omaha you should buy this book. If you don't, please invite me to your game. - 2 years ago

#4 - Omaha Poker - Bob Ciaffone
- Absolutely terrific! - (5 Stars)
As the poker craze continues to grow, it has amazed me that there are so few books on Omaha poker. This is why I was excited to receive the new edition of Bob Ciaffone's "Omaha Poker", expanded from the 1987 edition. It did not disappoint. In 124 pages, the author has covered Omaha masterfully. It begins with the popularity and origins of Omaha and then goes on to betting structures and reading the board. He then asks the interesting question whether you should even learn Omaha, followed by differences and similarities with holdem. Then there is a large section on general strategy for all Omaha games from opening hands to post-flop play. Quizzes which are fun are included. Limit Omaha High is covered in this section. There follows a detailed description of Omaha Hi-Low. This happens to be my best game, and I was happy to see there is plenty of information, some of which was new to me. If you learn this section, I believe you can compete successfully in low and intermediate level games, even if you know nothing else about Omaha Hi-Low. Well okay, hours of experience are a must. The next section is on Pot Limit Omaha, which the author has extensively expanded from the prior edition. I am a novice at this game, and I was particularly interested in it. Let's face it; this is big bet poker. You want to get it right. I thought the section was well written, concise and clear. Whether I can take it to the table and win, time will tell. So far, at low stakes, it goes well. But it is one tough game, and mistakes are very costly. I trust the author, and if worse comes worse, he is approachable over the Internet. The final two sections are on tournament play and miscellaneous topics. How can you go wrong with this book? It is terrific! - 4 years ago

#5 - Farha on Omaha: Expert Strategy for Beating Cash Games and Tournaments
- Gotta be better books - (1 Stars)
Have been reading this book for a few days and it is one most people could do without. From blatant errors of just about every kind...textual mistakes to simple pot odd mistakes, it makes me wonder if Sam Farha had anything to do with even writing this book. It is time to wonder about who is actually writing these poker books. Pot odds mistakes? Telling you it is good expected value to walk away from a favored drawing hand because it is the last hand of the night? I mean give me a break...spend your money on the Farha Bobblehead Doll instead of the book because it may actually help your poker more. - 2 years ago
