Poulan Chainsaws
76Poulan chainsaws are a great tool for anyone looking to get a quality cut while not breaking the bank. They are safe, reliable, and soundly built and can meet the needs of any one needing the power of a chainsaw but not the cost of higher end products.
But this does not mean that Poulan chainsaws are not extremely reliable, durable, and powerful. They are great at doing all sorts of jobs that many other chainsaws of lower quality would balk at. They are extremely efficient cutters and share technology with some of the best chainsaws on the market.
If you are just getting started with power cutting or you are looking to replace a busted chainsaw then going Poulan is certainly a great choice.

About The Poulan Brand
Poulan is a brand name that sells chainsaws, leaf blowers, and lawn mowers. It was a company that was once formerly a part of the Swedish conglomerate Electrolux, but since 2006 it has been under the Husqvarna AB company - a company that was created from an Electrolux division of the same name.
If you want to go back to the beginning of the Poulan brand you will need to go all the back to Claude Poulan, an American chainsaw pioneer. In 1946 he created the Poulan Saw Co. which began producing the first Poulan chainsaws a shortly afterwards. About a decade later the Poulan Saw Co. was purchases by the Beard Company out of Shreveport, Louisiana and the branding on these powertools shifted a little to become Beard-Poulan.
Then in the 1970s the company merged with Weed Eater, a string trimmer company out of Houston Texas, which was then later purchased by Electrolux just a few years later.
Currently, the Poulan brand is used for chainsaws, lawn mowers and leaf blowers that are aimed for consumers who are looking for quality products but unwilling to drop a lot of money on one. They are very similar to other Husqvarna chainsaws since they are owned by the same company. They share a lot of the same technologies.

Interesting Poulan Mower Fact
A Poulan model 245A chainsaw was used in the original 1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre film.
Buying Electric or Gas Chainsaws
Poulan offers both electric and gas powered chainsaws. The question is, which model is going to work best for you and your particular situation? Here are a few things to consider when making this type of decision.
- How will you use your chainsaw?
- Where will you use your chainsaw?
- How long will you use your chainsaw?
- Are you concerned about the environment?
How you answre these questions is going to directly impact which type of Poulan chainsaw you buy.
For example, a person who is concerned about their impact on the environment that plans on using a chainsaw intermittently to trim trees around their home is probably not going to need a gas powered chainsaw. But those that need to use their tools for hours on end well removed from civilization are probably going to need to think about purchasing a gas powered chainsaw. Do you see the difference?
Gas powered chainsaws offer their users the ability to work for longer because the power supply (the gasoline) can be renewed very quickly if some extra gas is on hand. This can extended their working hours during the day. Electric chainsaws are just as powerful as their gas powered cousins, but they are a little cheaper to keep operating (since electricity is relatively cheap compared to gasoline). However, this cheaper operation cost does come a the cost of long lasting performance.
Important Safety Equipment
If you are new to using a chainsaw, there are a couple of things that you are going to need to get in order to make sure that you can operate it safely. One of them is safety glasses. Protecting your eyes from the debris created by the cutting action of the saw is pretty important if you want to keep seeing for the rest of your life.
Another important one are chainsaw gloves. These must-haves will keep your safe from debris, but more importantly, they will keep them safe from getting hit by the saw's blade. The way they offer protection is by jamming the tool if it catches your hand. It does this because inside the left-hand glove there is a bunch of nylon cord sewn into the glove. When the saw catches on one of the nylong chords it unravels the chord until it ends up jamming the chainsaw's sprocket. You do not want to chop off your hand, so make sure you buy a pair of these gloves.
