In the performance market, and lifestyle of modern sport compact tuners, powder coating has become one of the preferred finishes for many car parts and accessories.

Due to it's strength and durability, powder coating is far better at resisting damage from vehicle fluids and constant removal/assembly. It also leaves a beautiful finish, and is a sure fire way to make your car stand out from the rest when you pop your hood at any car show or local meet.

Above are a few pictures of the process in powder coating. It is fairly straightforward and rather simple. An electrically charged gun pushes the powder over it's center rod to give it a static charge. The piece being powdercoated is grounded, so that the powder flows to it and sticks. The pieces are then cured in an oven to melt the powder and let it flow out. This is also the step where that flat, dry powder turns into a smooth beautiful glossy finish everybody has came to love about powder coating.

As you can see from the above picture, powder coated pieces are absolutely beautiful and will give you that edge over your competition. Furthermore, they require very little upkeep to maintaining their beautiful finish, and you have to basically put them through world war 3 to damage them. The finish is incredibly harder then standard paints, which in an engine bay that is constantly getting tweaked and worked on, will ultimately get scratched up with conventional paint. Powder coating will stand the test of time in there, and many beautiful colors and options are available, such as translucent powders, almost chrome like coatings, and standard colors as well too.

If you're putting together a car you plan on keeping around for awhile, invest the money in sending your pieces off to a coater or take the time and invest the money to be able to do it yourself.
