Precious Moments
65The tiny fingers of a newborn
clutching at your hand
a child's first ride without training wheels
An old friend calling after many years
the way a backrub feels
The thunderstorm thats brewed for hours
finally bursting with the clouds
Cool aloe spray after a beach day
One empty seat on a tour bus
after a long day of walking
A priest trying to give a sermon
while a two year old is talking
The way a bride and groom
dance with eyes only on each other
An extended visit from your wonderful older brother
A check in your purse you forgot to cash
Not being able to eat salt, and finding Mrs. Dash
A deal of a lifetime
the smell of a brand new car
Looking up into the nightsky from a balcony
and finding the brightest star
An irish lullabye your mother used to sing
A microphone and tambourine and an audience
that long to hear you sing
Riding a bike down a country road
sometime in late September
Someone emailing you a video
of a wonderful song that you remember
A high school reunion and all are doing great
A trip down memory lane
A line at the bank with no wait
A tax break, a promotion, a handshake
or a hug
breakfast in bed or doing nothing all day
with someone that you love.
Baby's chubby cheeks
red from a little cold
When someone says they remember you
when you were ten years old.
An elderly neighbor who needs a lift
cleaning up in january
and finding an unopened Christmas gift.
A song playing on the radio
that brings you back in time
Trying to write a song and remembering
finding just the perfect rhyme
A sunset on vacation
A wine that tastes so right
Finding out your planes overbooked
but getting a voucher for two free flights
Someone's bad habits overlooked
A stadium blanket at a football game
A year of free gas won in a raffle
Amish baked goods, home fries and scrapple
When a flag guy waves you through
and then he winks at you
Getting to a wedding in time
to watch the happy couple say "I Do"
A month's free rent, a stich in time
freshly fallen snow
Happily everafters, green lights, the smell of
lawn freshly mowed.
Kindergarten kids with stars on their forehead
taken from their first graded paper
the way vicks vapor rub smells
when your mom puts in on your throat
finding something to your mother that your father wrote
tipping over with your lifevest on
in a canoe on the lake
A friend complimenting you on a diamond necklace
and they don't know it's fake
Going to Baskin Robbins, finding out there's an icecream
that tastes like "Birthday Cake"
The guy you've had your eyes on
finally asking you on a date
Walking away covered in smiles
thinking you've found your soulmate
Staying up at night cruising youtubes
that remind you of certain things
Family celebrations, first grandchildren
and the happiness life brings
The leaves changing colors
in Northeastern PA
Kids making leaf piles
On a fresh crisp Autumn Day.
Seeing your kid score a soccer goal
and then doing a kartwheel on the field
Taking an exam, hitting the button, and it says PASS
A gently breeze, A compliment, donating to a blood bank
Weekends that are long, weekdays that go fast
Opening up a Thank You card
Rebates, Income Tax Checks, free stuff in the mail
Playing Monopoly with your kid
She smiles, hands you the card to get out of jail.
Remembering childhood things you did
Grandparents telling tales of long ago
Turning on the TV to find you have a snow day
and going back to bed
Pizza delivered with a 30 Minute Guarantee or It's Free
and they take thirty three!
A child with a boo-boo, holding on to their knee
and having an ouchless bandaid
Working for a candidate and celebrating Victory
Finding out your favorite movie is on TV.
A letter from home, A check in the mail, A pat on the back
kids calling you to see how you are
Finding out your clock is fast
taking hot bubble baths
Counting your blessings, finding out there's more
Knowing you're loved, and so much more
Precious Moments that keep on coming
Fill our lives forevermore.

thanks so much for your comments gentlemen.
What a list! After reading through it how can anyone say they're having a bad day? So many things to be thankful for. Nice job.

Thanks Mike and Carson Creek.. your comments are most appreciated.
Lovely, positive, thought-provoking, positive hub. Fascinating when we stop and realise that there are so many things that are good in our lives. So much! And most of them are so simple. Precious.

Those are life's pleasures. We have an Amish market that runs Thursday through Sunday up the road from us. The one that was not a pleasure for me was leaves turning in northeaster PA. That was depressing to me thinking of another long cold winter. I actually used that scene in a short story and the character was brooding about the coming winter.
