President Barack Obama's First 100 Days
President Barack Obama marks his 100th day as the 44th President of the United States of America. He marked the occasion by tirelessly.meeting with a press conference about government aid to American automakers. President Barack Obama rejected additional federal aid to the ailing auto companies until they can prove that it is worth the government giving them more federal funds. Chrysler will merge with Fiat and will get $6 Billion of govenment funds to help with the restructuring of the company. Chrysler has 30 days to give the federal government a new plan on proving their sustainability with the additonal government funding. General Motors was given 60 days by President Barack Obama to come up with a restructuring plan suitable for addiional government funding. President Barack Obama did not specify the amount of government aid GM will receive.
President Barack Obama first 100 days since his inauguration on January 20, 2009 is marked with a public approve rate of over 60%. President Barack Obama has been tirelessly seeking to uphold his promises to the American people to get the economy stabilized and moving in the right direction again.
President Barack Obama has successfully passed the $787 Billion Economic Stimulus Package to create jobs, improve education, medical care and upgrade transportation infrastructures on February 17, 2009. President Barack Obama showed his ability to cross party lines by garnishing the support of three Republicans to help turn the recovery bill into law. Those Republicans included Ms. Snowe, and Mrs. Collins both from Maine and Mr. Specter from Pennsylvania. Economist will not be able to see the benefits of the recovery package until about 18 months with the American public seeing a $13.00 weekly increase in their paycheck starting in June. Unemployment benefits have been extended because of the $787 billion Economic Stimulus Plan. Also single and married couples will receive tax credits at tax time. President Barack Obama hasproposed to impose a tax to levy on people making over $250,000 as promised in his campaign speeches.
President Barack Obama as the leader of the most powerful country in the world, did not stop with the $787 Billion Economic Stimulus Package in his promise to the American people to stabilize the economy, he also passed the $275 billion Mortgage and Restructuring Act to stop about 9 million Americans from losing their homes. The Federal Reserve system has since stepped in to pumped up to $1 trillion to get the economy back moving again as Britain and Japan has done in the past.
President Barack Obama not only promoted plans to jolt the financial system back in to good health again, he signed the $410 billion senate bill to keep nine federal agencies up and running. This bill had been in the house a while and with the election of President Barack Obama, the Democrats had him to sign the bill however reluctantly. President Barack Obama believed that by signing this bill he would keep federal employees at work in the nine agencies that may have to be closed without his signature.
Did President Barack Obama bring the Change that we can Believe in to America? To hear the substances of President Barack Obama's speeches to the Joint Session of Congress and to Americans, one could say with proof that President Barack Obama has brought change to America. President Barack Obama spoke of a millionaire who gave his bonus to people in his neighborhood (This incidence was before the AIG scandal. President Barack Obama spoke of the renovation of a school that was in need of renovations because the classes had to shut down whenenver a train went by. The recipient acknowledging the change was at the Joint Session of Congress to express her appreication to Barack Obama. President Barack Obama has given credit for keeping Emergency Response personnels on their jobs when the economy was struggling.
The President who reads ten letters everyday from Americans seek to keep in close contact with the American people. Though the press is saying that President Barack Obama has a perchant for having the teleprompter available, his speeches to keep Americans informed has spanned the communication media from town meetings in California, Indiana and Florida. President Barack Obama recently brought technology to the White House with interactions with Internet users with conversations with cross sections over the span of United States. President Barack Obama has also appeared on Ellen Degenerist, Oprah and recently on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. On the Jay Leno Show, President Barack Obama expressed working with the Republicans as being a contestant on American Idol television program except that all the judges were Simon Cowell.
President Barack Obama is seeking to reach every American as he promised to help push his budget of $3.6 trillion through the Senate and the House of Representatives. President Barack Obama continues to draw crowds when visiting American cities and is using the public support to get his financial agenda passed through Congress. The recent public outrage of the American Public proved once again the President Barack Obama can relate to the public's distaste for the irresponsible moves of AIG extending "shameless" bonuses to its CEO's. Whenever an event concerns the general public, President Barack Obama quickly acts to diffuse resentment and to seek to bring solace to the situation or issue. That is the reason for the rejection of the request for additional government assistance from the automakers. The plan presented to President Barack Obama just did not get it for additional funding for the automaker's substanability.
The CEO's who received $165 million of the government bailout of $170 trillion will be taxed at a 90% rate to reduce the tax liability of the American public. Congress acted quickly on this matter in the heat of public outrage as well as the outrage of President Obama about AIG's irresponsibility.
In the foreign policy area, President Barack Obama played the role of his mentor President Abraham Lincoln and selected among his rivals members for his cabinet. Hiliary Clinton, his former vicious presidential opponent graciously accepted the office of Secretary State and Judd Gregg (now withdrawn) accepted a post as Commerce Secretary. To prove that he can hit the floor running, President Barack Obama immediately stated naming cabinet appointments as the President Elect. Though a few has stepped down such as Judd Gregg, President Barack Obama offers no remorse or resentment and rationalizes that if a position is not a good fit then it is best for the person to move on.
President Barack Obama has received a lot of no votes from the Republicans on his econmic agendasbut as the president said in a recent news conference, they never seem to offer any viable sustainable solutions. As Rich Wagner resigned from General Motors, it was evident that the people who was not contributing to the good of the economy would just let go. However, the American public has not let go of President Barack Obama and has rated his first 100 days at a 60% or above aproval. President Barack Obama is proving that he is the President of Hope and the President of Change as the 44th President of the United States.
