The president, citing his lengthening unemployment insurance claims his huge stimulus package is working.  That would make him a voice of one, everybody else seems to think that the economy is stagnant and not moving in the right direction.  As the unemployment numbers continue to rise, allowing people out of work to collect for a longer period of time does not seem to be a job creating accomplishment.  He says his dollars to the states have helped to minimize the economic damage faced by just about all.  Yet, as my local taxes continue to rise, with added service taxes on just about everything, I think he is looking directly into the smoke and mirrors of politics.  The mortgage and housing problems have not been helped, the housing market is dead in the water.  Unless you find yourself to be one of the lucky cash strapped individuals or a nation looking to make some investments, the devaluation of the housing market is a disaster for most americans.  House appraisals are being substantially lowered, while property taxes increase.  The middle class is being squeezed out of existence and none of our electeds seem to be concerned.  Painting rosy pictures while he travels around the world gaping at 16 year old brazillian butts is not what we need at this time. what we need are big tax cuts and some solid plans for the future.  More concern shown for the citizen than the corporation would be a huge plus.  Despite his announcements, they did nothing to solve the credit card problem, just made the usurous statements easier to read.  That is not progress.  Somebody needs to tell this president to get off the campaign traveling tour and get down to work.  He better get the message that if he doesn't do it someone else will eventually have to and he will be a lame duck real fast.
