Politico reported November 12, 2009 that Alaska gov. sits out Obama visit. Further, the report stated:
Democrats in the state were quick to jump on Parnell for his decision not to alter his schedule in order to greet the president.
“We are talking about the President of the United States coming to Alaska,” said Alaska Democratic Party Chair Patti Higgins in a statement. “Governor Parnell could have met with the President and talked about key Alaska projects like the gas pipeline, but he decided to put partisanship over civility disrespect over diplomacy.”
Beautiful, beautiful! Not Patti Higgins’ statement but the fact Governor Sean Parnell chose to honor a previous commitment. That is a rarity these days for he could have hobnobbed with our Messiah, (acting) president Barack Obama. Joy! Joy!
If we could read Mr. Parnell’s mind we would probably learn he could have easily changed his plans with no hard feelings but that’s OK. As an extreme conservative republican, I take pleasure when someone - anyone - snubs our (acting) president.
Mr. Obama hasn’t earned sufficient respect to justify any red-blooded republican paying him homage. Or, to put more accurately: Why would a self-respecting governor (republican or democrat) from any state want to tarnish his or her image by kissing up to the Messiah? Wouldn’t it be more honorable to swish a dead rat around the mouth? Or, a live one?
Mr. Parnell isn’t the first governor to snub a president. Do you remember George Voinovich? Mr. Voinovich is a United States Senator from Ohio and served as Ohio’s governor during most of the 1990s. His finest hour occurred at a Columbus airport when he grew tired and impatient as his plane was grounded, as were all planes in the area, while the high pervert, bill clinton, was in the area. Finally, the governor had enough and ordered his plane to get rolling. The stunt cost the governor a $1,500 fine - money well spent for the pleasure of thumbing his nose at clinton.
Who knows, maybe Governor Voinovich was more than just tired and impatient. It might be that he was getting even with clinton for getting a haircut inside Air Force One while on the ground at Los Angeles a few years earlier. At the time, many reports surfaced about clinton arrogantly delaying air traffic while getting the haircut. However, clinton’s people and others denied that traffic was delayed.
[Lower case for bill clinton is always appropriate]
Anyway, it works both ways you know. Obama snubs too. This from
The Cleveland Leader, January 25, 2009:
Barack Obama became the first U.S. president to skip out on the Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball since its inception in 1953. The event recognizes recipients of the military's highest award - the Medal of Honor - and as The Cleveland Leader previously reported, over the past 56 years and 14 inaugurations, no President has failed to appear at this event until now.
To me, a president missing the event is atrocious. But, one shouldn’t wonder why with this guy for it seems as though he has no real interest in the military. Dragging his feet regarding General Stanley McChrystal’s troop level request is another good example of how he views the military.
Anyway, what has the leader (HA) of the Great United States of America done to deserve any attention from anyone? I’ll have to think on it.
It is now the next day. I’m still thinking.
