While the statistics on obesity are grim, unfortunately too many individuals are turning to more extreme methods to stay healthy and lose weight. However, studies show that the most effective means to prevent eating disorders is to develop a healthy body image by following a healthy, balanced diet, and exercise program. Many individuals at risk for eating disorders do not want to hurt themselves. They are attempting to fix problems that they perceive about themselves. However, due to false promises, teasing, and low self-esteem, many people fall victim to methods that however unhealthy, promise fast results. Yet, there are products that promote healthy eating and a regimen that will allows you to achieve the body you want in a healthy and safe way.

Although many sufferers of eating disorders have an obsessive fear of being fat, these feelings can be combated by learning healthy ways to channel that negative energy.  Studies show that a majority of Americans are overweight or obese.  Tragically, this inadvertently idealizes the thin body image.  This can lead people towards a certain desperation to attain that body and an inability to communicate these feelings adequately.  If you are feeling helpless and out of control, you should contact a mental health care professional immediately.  However, if you have a desire to improve your self-image by losing weight and your frustration is leading you to consider radical and dangerous methods to achieve these goals, there are proven programs that will help you meet your goals in a safe and timely manner.

Distorted Body Image

Do not fall victim to the easy solutions.  Eating disorders affect men and women, and go largely undiagnosed.  We are constantly bombarded by images of perfect bodies; and this can definitely lead to feelings of inadequacy.  The key to prevent eating disorders is to recognize these feelings early, and find healthy alternatives.  We all strive to better ourselves; however, it does us no good to replace one problem with another, larger one.  If you want to eliminate eating disorders, take advantage of weight loss programs that can give you the body you want without the horrible mental and physical side effects.
