Anyone who has a dog wants it to get the best of the best. You want it your beloved dog to look and feel its best. How do you make that happen, though? By buying all the latest cool dog clothes that are in fashion? Maybe so, but there's a lot more to keeping your pet looking its best. There are many dogs out there that are overweight for no other reason than the owners aren't looking out for the dogs' best interest.

Your dog is not a person; it does not understand healthy foods from unhealthy foods. And you dog certainly can't understand that eating table scraps is giving it risk for a heart attack. If your dog is already a thief or a moocher, you're going to have a few problems if you've decided to change its eating habits. Even though you may not mind your dog begging at the dinner table and saying no, your guests might find it disturbing or frustrating.

Retraining your dog

It's very important to remember that the table scraps are one of the worst things that you can give your dog for several different reasons. The more you give table food to your dog, the less likely they're going to be to eat their dog food, and then they won't be able ot fit on their large orthopedic dog beds.  Since they need the dog food to ensure that they get it packed with the nutrients they need and not table food, it's important to make sure that your situation doesn't get to that point. Your dog needs the minerals and vitamins that will be found in the dog food to make sure it's being protected from serious health problems.

Picking Some Great Choices

When it comes to the desire to give your beloved dog a treat, it's very important to know that nothing is wrong with that. However, it's important to realize the right dog treat. If you feel the urge to give it some of your steak, try giving your dog a steak flavored dog treat. By making specialized dog treats you will make sure that you give the dog ample food to meet their nutritional needs. The amount of treats given on any given day, however, should never exceed more than 10% of its diet.

By making sure that you're paying attention to the nutritional needs of your pet, you'll know that what you're doing is absolutely right. Withholding table scraps from your pet isn't mean, but it's showing how much you love your pets.
