Preventing Hair Loss Is Easy!

A couple of days ago I created a hub about hair removal. Today, I will talk about preventing hair loss. The first question that comes to mind is, is it even possible to prevent hair loss? good news! the answer is yes! Although most people can not actually avoid pattern baldness because of genetics, there are things that you can do to prevent it. The rule that "prevention is better than cure" also applies to hair loss.

Before we continue I believe it is very important that you know that having an unhealthy lifestyle increases stress, which is one of the things that eventually causes hair loss. (and many other diseases). You might want to know ask your self if you're living a healthy lifestyle.

The first thing you want to do to prevent hair loss is to take care of you hair. Don't be surprised if you start to see strands of hair at the bottom of your shower if you don't take good care of your hair.

You may want to avoid too much use of hair dyes, curling irons and hair dryers as they are the main cause of hairloss. Hair brading can also contribute to hair loss substancially. Unless your protecting your hair from too much heat of the sun, avoid wearing caps for long periods of time and when you are wearing them, make sure that it's not pulling your hair.

There will be times when you're really tired and you already want to sleep but do not sleep when your scalp or hair is wet. You might want to take a bath at least 2-3 hours before going to bed to give enough time for your hair to dry. Also make sure to use a good shampoo.

The food that you eat can also play a major role in preventing hair loss. You may want to consider eating iron packed dried fruits like raisins and cherry juice as they help manufacture hemoglobin, the part of the blood that carries oxygen to the body organs and tissues. If your hemoglobin level is unhealthy, oxygen will not be properly dispersed meaning your scalp too will have not be not getting good flow of blood which will result in poor hair growth. Eat fruits that are reach with Vitamin C such as lemons, strawberries and oranges as they will help in Iron absorption.

Studies show that men who suffer from hair loss usually have zinc deficiencies. If you are low on zinc, your hair strands will start to fall out or break off so you might want to include poultry, mussels, shrimps and oysters in your grocery as they are zinc heavy foods.

Protein can also help in hair loss prevention so make sure that you include fish, chicken, calf's liver, almonds, beans , low fat cheese ,eggs, soy milk and tofu. These food will help in maintaining a healthy hair. Don't eat excessive amount of these foods though as it may cause some other health problems. Just keep everything balanced!

How to prevent hair loss : Additional tips

  1. Massage your scalp - Do this every night at least 5 minutes but make sure that you use your finger tips and your nails. This will stimulate the blood flow in your scalp which will improve your hair growth.
  2. Drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday - You've probably heard this since you were in 1st grade. This is good not just for hair but for your entire system as well. This will keep your hair well hydrated.

Some people may have given up on preventing hair loss already but i'm sure you still haven't because you landed on this page. There may be no cure for hair loss but at least there are things you can do to at least try to prevent it from happening. Hair loss may not be a problem for many, especially for the young adults but if you don't take good for hair, we'll never know what will happen. I hope this hub helps!
