Prince Albert in Punta Perla, Dominican Republic
Guess what?
None other than His Serene Highness Prince Albert ll of Monaco was in the eastern most tip of the Dominican Republic to the "first shovel" opening ceremony of the Punta Perla Golf Marina and Spa megaproject to be located in Punta Cana.
This muti million dollar prject spearheaded mainly by Venezuelan investors will create thousands of new employment opportunities for the Dominican people and surely will promote the island's charm all over the world.
Â
This is happening right in the middle of a world wide financial crisis.Other big project is being developed in said region by Grupo Pineiro representing both an investment of around 5 billion dollard in a 10 year period.
The Punta Perla Golf Resort, located at Punta Cana, offers opportunities for the investor and visitor alike. Golfers will enjoy three 18-hole world-class signature courses, designed by Colin Montgomerie, plus the Golf Academy.
The 8,000 properties, most with terrace and Jacuzzi, include villas, apartments, penthouse suites, townhouses and millionaires mansions. Punta perla off plan properties range from $245,000-$1.4m and are built with low-density in mind.Â
Guests can also make the most of watersports, scuba, snorkelling, paragliding, horseriding at the equestrian centre, tennis, polo, the best spa in the Caribbean, luxury 5-star hotel, pools, shops, bars and restaurants, cinema and entertainment, business centre, casino and an onsite medical centre. With so much global competition in the golf resort market, Punta Perla is determined to outshine them all.
Â
Recently, none other than Donald Trump who is participating in a big real estate project with the Cap-Cana Group said the following:
Â
"The U.S. magnate Donald Trump discarded that his country's real estate crisis will affect his residential, golf and tourism project under construction in Cap Cana, La Altagracia province (east), and in which he has invested together with the Abrisa Group, reported newspaper El Caribe.
"Outside the United States we are involved in diverse products and the markets are going very well. In the Dominican Republic the market looks well. In the case of Cap Cana with all the conditions it has, there is no another way but to also go well," he said.I
The participation of the Prince was not fully explained by the investors but we could assume that since Monaco is famous for gambling it would be safe to assume that's where the connection is.
Prince Edward the Second the son of late Prince Rainier and Grace Kelly, was born in the Prince's Palace of Monaco,Monaco.
He's very well educated and has supported many athletic and scientific events.:
He is marrying the former South African swimming champion Charlen Wittstock next  september.

Â
The Dominican Republic has a long international history, being the first permanent European settlement in the Americas with the first European-built road system. The capital, Santo Domingo was also the first colonial capital in the Americas. It's a tropical paradise so beautiful that Christopher Columbus almost didn't go home! And now the prospects for capital growth are just as appealing as the landscape itself."
Residential Tourism.
The residential tourism sector in the Dominican Republic is one of the main support ot this growing industry since it's what's giving the image of a great leisure destination. Latest figures show that sales in this sector have increased substantially in excess of US $ 500 million just in 2007.
More than 400,000 villas and apartments are already build and more than 2000 are being constructed.
The new projects mentioned at the beginning are not included.
More than 3 million tourists visited the country in 2006.
In spite of present global economic crisis, the Dominican Republic continues to receive tourists and investments on this sector.
Latest numbers show a still positive growth similar to the year 2007.Â
In 2008, for instance 3,979,672 airline passengers visited the island representing a 1.45 % increase as compared with the previous year..
