The Prison Break show aired its first season in 2005. The basics of the storyline is that the head engineer  Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) that designed the actual prison,  purposely gets himself arrested and sent to the same prison that his brother is serving a sentence on death row. His brother Lincoln Burrows, (Dominic Purcell) was sentenced to death row after being charged for killing the Vice President’s brother. Lincoln swears he didn’t commit the crime and only Michael believes him. Michael finds Lincoln in the prison and tells him he is going to break them both out of the prison.

While planning the escape, Michael discovers the major conspiracy that framed his Lincoln and won’t stop until his death is carried out. Michael realizes that breaking out is much harder than he thought but he’s still going to try.

The Prison Break show is now well into its 4th season. I admit, when I first saw the previews I thought it was going to be pretty boring. The previews from season 1 didn’t capture my interest but the pilot did.

I have also been amazed at how many seasons it has lasted. You would think that somehow they would have been able to escape during the first or second season and be done with it already. Amazingly they have not run out of plots. Each season has been filled with more and more adventure, betrayal, twists and turns. The show is totally unpredictable.

Another great thing about the show is the actors. They aren’t cheesy. Their roles are very convincing and they give the prison break show life. This is only the second time I have seen Wentworth Miller on TV. I was familiar with his days on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He had a decent role in that show and that was when I first appreciated his acting. Now years later, his acting on Prison break blows his Buffy days out of the water. He really has come so far with his acting ability.

You can also appreciate the color and lighting used on set. Each episode is filmed to give the feel that it’s a part of a mini movie series with no end. The prison set is also pretty convincing. I constantly ask myself “I wonder if this is just a huge studio set they use to film this or if it is an actual abandoned prison they are renting out”.

Don’t feel bad if you have never watched an episode of Prison Break, you can still get in on the action by purchasing or renting the previous seasons.
