ProTech Defiance D/A Auto Knife

ProTech has come out with a brand new Dual Action (D/A) automatic knife. Dual Action knives, if you don't already know, are knives which can be opened manually or automatically. Typically, with a double action knife, the trigger for the automatic part of the knife is "hidden". On most, the button is difficult to access, difficult to trigger, or just downright clunky looking. On the Defiance, ProTech has solved all of the above problems. The trigger is right at the tip of the inlay. If you look at the picture of this knife, the inlay is the light brown colored G-10. As the tip of this inlay, if you push there, the inlay depresses slightly and this triggers the blade to open automatically. The trigger works like a charm. The blade, like all ProTech automatics, pops out very quickly and locks up tight.

The Defiance is one of my new most favorite knives. It definitely ranks in the top 5 for me. It has the good, sleek looks. It has quality workmanship and top notch materials. And, it is a great size knife. I love this knife--if you are looking for a good knife to add to your collection, this is one you may want to consider.

"The Don"--Pro-Tech's newest Auto Knife

My Favorite Medium Sized Auto Knife from Pro-Tech

My favorite medium sized auto knife from Pro-Tech just has to be the Godson. The Godfather, as pictured above, is a most beautiful knife. The Godson is built along the exact same ratios as the Godfather but sized about 30% smaller. At just over 7.5" open, the Godson is a perfect size EDC (every day carry) knife. Closed, the Godson is just 4.41" long.

The Godson comes in a huge variety of colors and handle scale variations. For instance, you can get G-10 handle inlays for a lighter knife. You can get various wood inlays, including cocobolo and maple burl, if you prefer that look. I really like the wood inlays. I do woodworking as a hobby and the skill with which these scales are inset into the handle is most impressive.

Regardless of the handle color or blade color you choose, all of them open very quickly and lock up tight. The handle frame is made of T6-6061 aircraft aluminum which gives it incredible strength without a bunch of weight. The blade is made of 154-CM stainless steel, either as is or DLC coated black.

For these reasons, and many more, the Godson is my favorite Pro-Tech side open automatic knife.

Tactical Response 3

The Tactical Response series has 3 installments.  The third series, known as the TR3's is fabulous.  These automatic knives are 8" open and 4.5" closed.  The blades are made of 154CM stainless steel and come in the standard silver color or DLC coated black.

The handles are made of T6-6061 aircraft aluminum and come with a variety of scale choices.  My favorite thing about this auto knife is that the handle is nearly the perfect shape for the average to large sized hand.  It has a nice grip for your forefinger and the handle scales have various lines and patterns that increase your ability to grab and hold on to these knives.  A definite must own auto knife by Pro-Tech.

That is for certain. Lets get out there and talk to those who make laws--to make sure the ban on pocket knives doesn't pass. What would be next, a ban on kitchen knives? A ban on potato peelers? Hope they let me cross the street--or maybe that isn't too safe either.
