ProForm Elliptical Trainers are a product manufactured by ProForm who are wholly owned by Icon Health & Fitness that is a privately owned company. In 1977, the business was incorporated as Weslo Design International Inc.

In 1988, Weider Health and Fitness, Inc purchased Weslo and ProForm followed in 1990 with the acquisition of Image Inc then in 1991 the acquisition of JumpKing Inc. In 1992, Weider acquired Legend Sporting Goods to add to the many fitness companies to expand the fitness and exercise product lines internationally. Weider continued to acquire further fitness companies by adding Icon, HealthRider, and Hoggan Health Industries when in 1998 Icon licenses Reebok home exercise equipment. In December 1998, Icon purchases NordicTrack. In 2001, the addition of Ground Zero Design was added to the numerous other acquired companies.
