There were and still are problems with the iPhone mainly because so many people are using it and thus it is receiving so much attention and eyeballs. Not a bad thing for Apple though as such a phenomenon will no doubt help to improve the quality of the product overtime. Here we look at some of the problems with the iPhone and their solutions if any at all.

A lot of people complain about problems with the iPhone restore mode. They are not able to do normal restore and sometimes they get errors like error 1604. There are some possible solutions to this problem, from restoring iPhone in recovery mode to removing the firmware files and re-downloading them. Others experience problem when they try to upgrade to iPhone version 2.0. Some users reported that their devices were “bricked” or rendered unusable after the upgrade. While others say that they can’t access contacts or make calls. This problem was resolved by Apple and users can proceed to upgrade with no issue.

There have been reports of problems with the iPhone GPS. Although this issue affects both the original iPhone and the iPhone 3G, there was a notable rise in the number of reports since the release of iPhone 2.0.1 update. It is not known at the point of writing whether the problem originates from the iPhone firmware itself or other sources.

More recent issue of iPhone 3G includes software glitches with 3G reception involving weak signals and dropped calls. Slow websurfing speeds weren't fixed either with the release of updated software version 2.0.2. Majority of users reported that the update did not resolve their problems. No solution has been given so far.

Having said all this, iPhone is a great tool both for work and play. As I mentioned, the large amount of problems with the iPhone and complains will only serve to improve the product. That is if Apple continues to keep up its efforts to serve its customers.
