Many people start marketing on the internet on a limited budget. They may not have the funds for paid advertising or they may not have the confidence that they will stick to it. For those article marketing is the perfect fit. Most article sites will let you publish your content free of charge. They will make commissions from the advertisements that they display on the webpage and are more than willing to have someone write content for them.

The methods to profiting from article writing are as follows - promoting an affiliate product directly, putting a link in your author's signature that goes directly to your website, sending them to a squeeze page or linking to a review site. Make sure to read the rules on your article site to ensure that you do not get flagged for using them to advertise. Each article directory has slightly different rules and you do not want to be penalized for marketing.

The most commonly used technique is to send traffic directly to an affiliate URL. You simply write a review, testimonial, or story about a product and link to the affiliate URL within or at the bottom of the article. How well your article converts to sales will depend on how captivating it is. Search engines won't alwasy allow you to "direct link" to the merchant pages. In situations where a direct link is not allowed, you will need to create a webpage to send your traffic.


Some people are prolific writers and create informational books that they market through eBooks, while others have goods that they can sell. If you are lucky enough to have your own product to promote, a good way is to write articles about the product and add a link to the website that you use to sell them on. Create an article full of useful information, or an article on a particular subject relevant to your product. If you have a product that shows people how to make money on eBay, you may want to write an article outlining the steps that someone should take to become successful on eBay, or some tips on how to set up an eBay account.


A squeeze page is simply a page created to generate excitement for a product. Usually it does not contain much information, but it does ask for an email address to send you more information. If you have a squeeze page, you may want to drive your article traffic to it. You can do this by writing articles that would attract visitors who would be interested in your mailing list, and then redirect them to your squeeze page. Make sure your offer is worthwhile or people will not subscribe to your list. Magazines, newsletters, reports, guides, and books are great giveaways. People are addicted to the word free and have a greater tendency to sign up when they know their money is not at risk. Squeeze pages often offer something free like a free electronic guide to download.


In the same way as you promote an affiliate product, you can write articles about particular products that you are comparing on your website and then send the visitors to your review website. Once they click on your website, they will be interested in one or more of the services or products and will be more likely to buy them. You could write a review article for each product that you sell on your website. Be sure that the review is an honest description of the product and includes the postive features and the negative features to avoid sounding too much like a salesman.

Once you have written your article, don't let it get lost on the web.  Let your friends on facebook know that you have published something.  Post a link to it on twitter and myspace so that your follwers will find what you have written and read it.  Ping it to search engines so that they know new content is available.  I don't know how necessary it is to do this with the advanced technology these days. 

Making money online takes a lot of work. It is very possible and you can definitely do it - you just need to make that commitment to do what it takes. There is no easy way out. But if you work hard and create an article that is useful and helps improve someone else's life, you will be well on your way to making a nice, reoccurring, and mostly passive income.
