This individual will be accountable for delivery and end to end management.
Primary Accountability:
The role of the Project Manager will be to manage and deliver projects, as assigned. The individual will bring strong planning and process skills to the team and will have management accountability for the definition and execution of the project plans including project initiation, planning, execution, controlling and closing out the project. The project manager will manage project dependencies and team and stake holder relationships as it relates to the project and ensure timely and effective communication with the project team and with the project stakeholders.
This individual will also have strong negotiation and relationship management skills and will work with program / project managers and teams from other areas inside the IT Division.
As the Project Manager, this position demands skills in resource management, fiscal management of budgets and ability to deliver to committed schedules ranging from 6 months to over 12 months.
In addition, this individual will be responsible for ensuring that technology solutions are compatible with Company's architecture, policies and standards.
There is a general expectation that the Project Manager would also manage the client’s and management’s expectations for the successful delivery of the project. The individual is expected to manage any “gaps” between actual delivery and client expectations.
You will also be responsible for the following:
To apply Company's Methodology for Project Management throughout the project period including:
- Business Case/Project Charter preparation and approval
- Work Breakdown Structures and Project Plans construction
- Monthly status reports
- Project milestones monitoring, project priorities reassignment, if necessary, to maintain project schedule
- Project meeting minutes, with issue logs and resolution
- Risk management assessment and risk strategies
- Escalation process
- Change Management Process
- Vendor Management
- Procurement Management
- Project Financials and Latest Estimates
- Communications Strategy
- To ensure that the project is completed successfully on time, within budget and with quality
- To maintain, track and update the project plan (in MS Project) and to formally provide regular progress milestones check
- To conduct weekly project status meetings with the team, IT Primes & other stake holders, and to document all decisions / outcomes
- To meet with the Senior Director weekly to provide project delivery status
- To maintain and manage problem / issues log and resolutions
- To escalate problems / issues to the Primes, the Senior Director and other appropriate stake holders (when necessary) to mitigate risks and identify impact to project timelines and Company’s resources
- To manage communication to the project team, project steering committees and Business contacts and other key stake holders
- To ensure that appropriate resources are assigned to the project and that they account for their time on the project
- To manage resources and provide appropriate direction and feedback as required
- To manage the project team including setting performance expectations, measurement and resolving disciplinary problems
- Manage multiple external vendors, contractors and business partners

Job Complexities/Challenges:
- Most projects within Company do not have teams of dedicated project resources. Projects resources are generally shared from other functional groups within Company. The project manager is expected to manage shared project resources to ensure timely delivery of work packages
- Prioritize and organize workload to ensure that milestones on the project’s critical path are met
- Assess importance of risks and sensitivity of issues that could have impacts on the project’s deliverables and determine appropriate course of action

Project Management without MS Project
Requirements and Attributes
Requirements:
- Prior experience with project management methodologies
- Previous experience with large projects
- Strong organization skills; capable of operating independently with minimal direction
- Strong people management skills as the position requires managing project teams and activities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with a wide range of individuals in a wide range of situations which usually requires tact, diplomacy, and discretion.
The position also requires strong writing skills to complete a range of documentation and reports
- Extensive computer skills in all MS Office applications, including MS Project, PowerPoint, MS EXCEL and MS Outlook
- Decisiveness and good judgments required for sound planning
- Well-developed organization / time management skills in order to multitask.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize and escalate tasks appropriately
- Project Management Office certification, an asset
