Anyone bloggin or writing on the web knows that getting links to your articles is hard, especially if you are just starting. Writing good content takes time, and often it isn't rewarded as it should.

If you are a webdesigner, there is a very good way to get backlinks. You can even get thousands of it from a single wordpress theme if it gets popular.

All you have to do is to create a free Wordpress theme, promote it and of course not forget to add your backlink. Some people will take it away, but I'd say that a good 50% of people keep it on, either as a reward or because they don't have the technical skills to take it away.

I have used this technique myself, and the truth is that it really helped my blog to get up in Technorati or to get Google or Yahoo backlinks. Another thing to consider is that people downloading your theme might as well subscribe to your blog. It will also allow you to show your designing skills, and you might get some designing jobs out of it (which I did).

So why don't you give this technique a try, and if you are not a designer, you can pay one to do the theme for you, it might be worth it.
