A pepper spray is regarded as one of the most effective self-defense devices of modern times. It was used to control undisciplined mob before. Nowadays it is mainly used by working women, travelers and students to protect them from the hands of goons. Pepper spray actually is a small can filled with oleoresin, gathered from world’s hottest pepper cayenne peppers. A sprayer is fixed upon the can. When pepper spray is operated on a person the chemical that comes out of the spray immediately blind the victim temporarily accompanied with breathing trouble and burning sensation.

Take these measures to use the pepper spray the right way

  • After buying a pepper spray practice spraying and fixing the aim at home. Other wise you will not be able to target the enemy at the right moment.
  • Spray the pepper canister on the facial areas of the enemy because it is the most effective area to create burning sensation.
  • Keep a distance between you and your enemy, otherwise pepper may enter your eyes and nose and cause the same affect as it is created upon your enemy.
  • Before spraying say ‘stop’ or something loudly to divert the enemy’s mind momentarily and you will get the time to fix the target.
  • While shooting step backward gradually otherwise your enemy may snatch the canister from your hand. So ideal process will be spray – step backward – again spray – step backward, like this.
  • Keep your eyes open when you spray. If you spray with closed eyes you can not fix the aim. Spray your weapon for 2-3 seconds and this will make your enemy temporarily blind and make him disabled. This is the right time. Stop spraying and quit.
  • Another good technique of spraying is always spray in X or Z pattern. Sometimes it becomes impossible to fix on a moving person. X or Z pattern covers a larger area.
  • Always carry your pepper spray in such location from where you can take it out at the heat of the moment.
  • Timing is another important thing for spraying. Hold your nerve strong and spray only when your enemy comes within the range.
  • While buying the pepper spray canister see the manufacturing date and check your pepper spray canister every six months.
