Feedburner is the most common FREE service that bloggers use to promote their RSS feed. Many people use Feedburner to optimise their blog feed and get readers to subscribe to their latest blog post.

Pros

It is a great way to promote your content and increase loyal readership. It is easy to implement and also helps in driving repeated traffic to your blog.( The video below shows you how easy it is to setup your Feedburner feed)

It offers e-mail subscription for readers who are not comfortable or used to subscribing to RSS feeds.

Cons

- the system has been quite unstable these past few months with many bloggers complaining that their stats are inaccuarate as on many days there is a BIG FAT ZERO instead of the actual number of subscribers when you click on to view your stats. It had led many bloggers to be fustrated with the system and many, including me, have been looking at feedcat.net as an alternative.

- If readers are subscribing in via RSS you do not have any of their details Ie: Name, E-mail which you could use to do a follow up if you have other items you would like to promote.

If you want to spruce up your blog do go ahead an implement it. Many big time bloggers like problogger does have it on his site.

For me what I do is have both Feedburner and Awber subscribtion on my blog- From Dominique's Desk to capture the different type of readers .
