Reduce Blood Pressure without Drugs

Usually prostate problems of all types become apparent in men typically age 50 and over, and this is sometimes coupled with overall general health not being as good as it should be. The old saying that we only have one body and it has to last a long time becomes even more apparent as we get older. I am just as guilty as the next person when it comes to abusing my body – so I am not preaching – but it is never too late to make some lifestyle adjustments.

One of the most common problems among men entering middle age is high blood pressure. Leaving aside heart and vascular disease it is interesting to note that two thirds of men with high blood pressure were also insulin resistant. So in this case, if your high blood pressure is a direct result of out of control blood sugar levels, normalising this abnormality will rectify the problem.

So if you fall into this category by being overweight for example or not exercising enough or eat a dodgy diet, which the majority of us are guilty of, then a few positive lifestyle changes will benefit your whole body and your prostate will benefit from these changes too.

Limit your intake of grains and sugars…difficult I know; but this is the most effective way to return your BP levels to normal.

Limit your consumption of caffeine…this is another difficult one.
Get plenty of exercise – walking swimming, cycling etc. Walking is completely free. All you need is an adequate pair of comfortable shoes or trainers.

Make sure you get a good night’s sleep…this is not a difficult one.

Get out in the sunshine, but don’t burn. When the sun goes away for the winter you can supplement with vitamin D.

Increase your intake of healthy omega-3 fats from cod liver oil and fish oil.

Grapes are very good, and so are all fruit and vegetables. You could also supplement with vitamin C which has been proven to help control blood pressure.

To monitor my blood pressure at home, I use an inexpensive automatic digital monitor which I find to be ideal. I enter the results on a spreadsheet, nerdy I know, and keep tracks of my BP.  Below you will find links to Amazon if you would like more information on these home portable monitors.

All of the above lifestyle changes will have a huge impact on your general health and will also impact positively with quest for a healthy prostate.

I will finish this article as I normally do by banging on about the positive benefits that massage can have on your prostate. And I don’t mean the invasive internal type either. Just a simple piece of non medical kit that you sit on, fully clothed, is all you need. I really do think that every man over the age of 45 should have one of these it is that important. Take a look and see for yourself.
