It's a sad fact but it's true, 20% of children between the ages of 10-13 have been or are being cybebullied. Cyberbullies attack through emails, chat or instant messaging. So how do we stop our kids from being bullied?

A simple solution might be to stop them from using the Internet, but realistically that's not the best option. Most kids can access the internet from school or a friends anyway, so instead of punishing them the victims(our children) we need to help them. By teaching our kids to talk with us or with someone they trust is the first step. We can't help our kids if we don't know whats happening. Even if your kids don't confid in you as a paren it is your job to inquire anway. Whether verbaly or just by monitoring their online history.

Here are a few tips to teach your kids to avoid getting cyberbullied. Talk to your kids about the dangers of the Internet, inform thm they must know whome they are speaking to at all times. Teach them not to open email or messages from people they don't know . Monitor who they are emailing and chattng with. If your child is already being bullied immediatly block emails and instant messging. And if you know whom the bullie is contact the parents or authorities if a threat has been made.

Inform your kids and hopefly they will keep you infomed too, the most important thing is to know what your child is doing online, giving them rules and regulating them will help to stop or prevent them from being targets from cyberbullies.
