Proven Weight Loss Strategy – Hire A Coach!
57
Have you ever considered hiring your own personal weight loss coach? I’m sure you have heard of coaches for sports but weight loss is not quite as popular. In the sports world, coaches have become headline news. Why do you think that coaches are hired and fired so quickly? Each team has its own chemistry and team owners are looking for that “one” coach that will get the best and most out of their players. Time and time again you see a team excel the next season after a new coach has been hired. And you also see fired coaches go to another team and do very well. Did these coaches have a magic pill that they gave each of the players? I don’t think so…if they did, their legal troubles would probably bankrupt them.
So what makes a coach so valuable? If you look at the headline coaches, it is the motivation that they provide their players. Helping people to achieve their goals is the main job of a coach. Coaching has become popular in other areas of our life as well. Many people have learned that they need help from an outside person that has a fresh perspective to help in the areas of business, personal development and even weight loss.
It is no secret that weight loss is on the minds of many, many people. Currently 2 out of 3 Americans are considered overweight or obese. This is a staggering statistic. Our health is deteriorating at an alarming rate. Cancer, heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, joint pain and many other illnesses are at epidemic levels. There are many reasons for this but the underlying reason for most people is that they are overweight. Solve our weight issues and we can solve many of our health issues.
It is time for us to take our health seriously. You can ignore all the signals your body is giving you but that doesn’t change anything. Each day that goes on, you start to feel worse and worse. If you’re like the typical person that wants to lose weight for whatever reason, you have tried and failed on many diets, exercise programs etc., and don’t even talk about the money you have spent on joining health clubs.
So why is the failure rate so high? Most people haven’t made that “decision” to really lose weight. They want to lose a few pounds but lack the motivation and go back to what they were doing before. You have to make a “decision” for better health.
Once you’re past the decision phase, you need to find the best plan that works for you. You don’t want to waste time trying this plan and that exercise so that you become so frustrated that you quit. With thousands of people out there selling you weight loss products, how do you know which one is for you? Each of us has our own issues when it comes to health and that is why one plan for all will not work. You are an individual and you need a plan that works for you.
For the same reason that team owners hire coaches to motivate and teach their players, you need someone to design a plan that will work for you. Most people in today’s world are overwhelmed with busyness and time is very important. For this reason, you need to get the best out of the time you’ll be spending to reduce your weight. Wouldn’t it be helpful to have someone who has the experience and knowledge to guide you along to success?
So where do you go from here? This is where research comes in because you need to find someone you feel comfortable with. Someone you feel has the personality, knowledge and time to help you meet your weight loss goals in a timely manner.
Make sure you find someone that is certified. Interview them so you know exactly what they are offering you. You will develop a very personal relationship with this person so make sure you feel this person can help you to achieve your weight loss goals. Remember that a coach’s job is not to just make you feel good. A coach’s job is to help you lose weight which may mean they need to get in your face once in awhile and challenge you just like a sport’s coach would do. You are paying them for results so make sure they are as committed to your goals as much as you are.
Another thing is to find someone who had been there….done that. No team owner will hire a coach that has never played the game. When you are interviewing your coach, find out what their life story is and what brought them to the coaching field….especially weight loss. Everyone has a story and find out what your coach’s story is so you know they can relate to you before you start training with them.
The benefits to you for hiring a personal weight loss coach are numerous. The key to success to working with a personal weight coach is the personalization of a plan for you along with an assessment of your progress. Now it is your turn, you now have to explain what your history has been and the reasons why you want to start a weight loss plan at this time. Make sure you are honest and explain that you are committed to permanent weight loss and you are willing to follow the directions and plans as you are given.
Also remember that the failure or success of any weight loss program falls onto you. As in the sports field, the coach can run up and down the sidelines and give directions but the win or loss falls on the players. Coaches are there to help you. Develop a plan that is right for you but remember the work and success all belong to you. Make sure you are committed to your success before taking the leap into hiring a coach. It is very important that you have honest and up front communication with the person that is trying to help you. Two people pulling in the same direction greatly increase your chances for success.

Great article! A lot of people really need the extra support a coach can give them. A coach also helps them be accountable. Make a decision and hire a coach! You'll be glad you did!
