The Playstation Portable is the answer to every gamer's dream. Playstation truly addressed the problems of mobile gaming and are going head-to-head with Nintendo DS by providing a great game system that can entertain for hours.

But before you decide to put down a sizeable amount of money on a new Portable Playstation, you may want to look into reading some PSP reviews. This also applies to any new games that are on the market. Other users can offer advice on the pro's and cons of owning a PSP system, which could save you some money if you decide that the system is not for you.

If you were to google PSP reviews, you would be given hundreds of listings where the PSP was debated. Most of the reviews come from other buyers who have purchased the new Playstation Portable and have commented on its assets, as well as its deficits. The best advice for reading and sorting through all of the reviews and discussions is to find a reliable website or company that has an unbiased opinion.

Cnet.com is a great website to check out the latest PSP reviews for the systems and games. It is also a great place to get technical help and gaming advice for your Sony Playstation Portable gaming system. So what was their rating of the PSP system? Cnet users rated it a 7.1 out of 10, but the staff gave it an 8.1 out of 10. Read through the different reviews and decide for yourself if the negative press was actually warranted, or if it was based on a particular preference for a different gaming system.

Cnet gave a positive review of the graphics and gaming abilities of the Sony PSP Playstation Portable. But, they found that the multimedia functions left a lot to be desired. The problem, as stated by the reviewer, was the impossibly long load times and the expensive memory cards. Cnet's members gave the PSP a score of 7.8 out of 10. Members cited problems with the gaming discs, size, battery life and audio as key factors in their less than stellar praise of Sony's latest endeavor. But keep in mind that unlike professional reviews, personal reviews can be based on preference for another gaming system.

It never hurts to have other gamers' opinions and PSP reviews before you decide to buy a new system or game. Many players offer detailed reviews and complaints that they may have had with the systems lag time or the user friendly controls. It is also a great place to turn to if you are looking into purchasing a new game. Fellow gamers can tell you how hard or difficult a particular game actually is before you go out and make the purchase.

Portable Playstation Value Bundles

2004 and 2007 marked important release dates in Sony history. Both dates were release debuts of their Sony Portable Playstation. The 2007 debut was an enhanced version titled the "Slim and Lite" which weighed less and was thinner. Both operated under the same PSP system, but the Slim version offered more adaptability when it came to playing music and movies. Just like with other technology based companies, limited edition bundles are offered to entice gamers further.

The Core bundle for the Sony Portable Playstation comes with an AC adapter, USB cable and the basic console. The Ice Silver Dax Entertainment Pack is around thirty dollars more if you buy it in a retail store. The Ice Pack comes with a silver player, the game "Daxter" and a 1 GB memory stick with UMD movie. If you compare the Ice and Core packs, you will see that you are actually getting a great deal if you take the upgraded limited edition bundle.

Other special release bundles for the Sony Playstation Portable system include a Star Wars bundle, complete with a silk screening of Darth Vader on the back of the unit, and a Final Fantasy Limited Edition bundle. Why release these limited edition gaming bundles? Sony gets to charge more for the specialized colors and accessories included in the bundle and it makes the unit collectable. For hard-core collectors, such as those who avidly collect Star Wars merchandise, this means adding value to a collection.

Making special release bundles and gaming consoles is nothing new. Some people will undoubtedly pay more for the option of having a color choice for their new PSP system. It may not mean a difference in functions or games but it is nice to have that choice. Others like the fact that they get more for their money. Consider that a Core Pack retails in the U.S. for $169.99 and only $199.99 for the specialized packages, most of which come with a playstation portable game and a memory stick. By purchasing the specialized pack, you are getting a bargain.

The new limited edition colors of the Sony Portable Playstation are very nice but they are not a necessity. The core bundle plays the same games as the limited edition bundles. The only noticeable difference will be the memory stick which, truth be told, is a great accessory to own. It means not having to carry games with you since you can download them directly to the memory stick. Either way though, you will still get to enjoy your new PSP system and have hours of gaming fun.
